GENERAL NOTE
This report is a reflection of operational activities of the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in the
year 2018. National and other figures captured are used
to aid statistical analysis. The data reported were
sourced from Oil & Gas Producing and Marketing Com-
panies operating in Nigeria. A comprehensive list of
these Companies is indicated in the Appendix to this
document. Some data tables may be subject to further
reconciliation. Users should note the comments on each
table (if any) for completeness.

EXPLORATION ACTIVITIES
A total of 81 wells were drilled: 66 Development
wells and 15 Exploratory wells. The country has
3,590,340 and 4,000,000 b/d as production ca-
pacity and expansion plan for 2019 and 2020
respectively. Table 2 gives a summary of drilling
activities during the year.
CRUDE OIL, CONDENSATE AND NATURAL
GAS PRODUCTION
Total crude oil and condensate production for
the year was 701,431,890 barrels giving a daily
average of 1.92 mmb/pd (Table 4.01). This is
higher than the 2017 production by 0.38%. Pro-
duction by fiscal regime shows that JVC contrib-
uted 228,260,563 barrels, JV-AF 86,697,004
barrels, PSC&SC 271,948,275 barrels, Inde-
pendents & NPDC 92,646,584 barrels and Mar-
ginal fields 21,879,463 barrels.
In the gas sector, a total of 2,836.55 Billion Cu-
bic Feet (BCF) of Natural Gas was produced
during the year 2018. This shows a decrease of
2.29% when compared with 2017 production. Of
the quantity produced, 2,554.47 BCF (90.06%)
was utilized, while 282.08 BCF (9.94%) was
flared.
CRUDE OIL LIFTING
A total of 701,090,284 barrels (1.92 million
barrels per day) of crude oil and condensate was
lifted for domestic and export purposes, showing
an increase of 2.10% against year 2017. Of the
total quantity, NNPC lifted 255,546,455 barrels
(36.45%), averaging 700,127.27 barrels per
day for both domestic utilization and export. The
breakdown of the NNPC lifting is shown on Ta-
ble 8.
UPSTREAM GAS LIQUID PRODUCTION AND
EXPORT
Total Upstream Gas Liquid produced in 2018
was 2,668,327 Metric Tons. Of which
1,446,041mt is NGL (C3,C4,C5) and 1,222,286mt
is LPG.

REFINING
The local refineries received a total of
13,662,787 barrels (1,846,322 mt) of dry
crude oil, condensate and slops. It processed
13,464,077 barrels ( 1,819,469 mt) into vari-
ous petroleum products. The total production
output of LPG, PMS, HHK, AGO and Fuel Oil
by the refineries was 1,406,297 metric tons.
The combined average refining capacity utili-
zation for year 2018 was 7.97% as against
16.59% in 2017.
PRODUCTS MOVEMENT
PPMC evacuated 2,145,980 mt of petroleum
products (including Intermediate Products)
from the refineries. It imported 15,997,067 mt
of PMS, HHK, AGO and ATK for distribution
through Direct Sale Direct Purchase (DSDP)
arrangement. PPMC sold a total of 20,410. 90
Million liters of various grades of petroleum
products through the depots and coastal lift-
ing, (including special Product). During the
year 301,816,315 liters of Low Pour Fuel Oil
(LPFO) and Naphtha were exported.
Average daily consumption for 2018 was:
50.16 million liters of PMS; 13.01 million liters
of AGO; 2.55 million liters of HHK
NNPC Retail Limited distributed 1,380.27 mil-
lion liters of PMS, HHK and AGO in 2018.
INCIDENCES
A total of 1,949 line breaks were reported on
NNPC pipelines out of which 1,894 was as a
result of vandalism, while 55 cases were due
to system deterioration like rupture. This re-
sulted in a loss of 206,096M3 of petroleum
products and 76,150 barrels of Crude oil.
There was 81% decrease in the Crude Oil
losses when compared with 450,346 barrels
against 2017.
A total of 19 fire incidents were recorded
durng the year under review. These fire inci-
dents were 46% higher than for the same peri-
od in 2017.
