IN HOSPITALITY,
MELISSA THOMPSON, HHN BOARD PRESIDENT
As the new President of Healthcare Hospitality Network, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 2018 Conference. I’m so excited about HHN’s growth, development, improved programming, and increased outreach to each of our valued members. Serving as the Chair of the membership committee, I’ve had the unique opportunity to become very familiar with our family of houses, and with many of you individually as friends. It is my hope that we’ll all be seeing each other in Denver this Fall! How many times have you felt that it’s difficult to explain what you do, how you do it, and how vital it is in the overall healthcare picture? Unless someone sits in your chair, they likely have no idea of the impact hospitality housing has on thousands of individuals each year, and the kind of heart and soul it takes for the work. Because of the unique nature of what we do, it’s critically important for us to band together for education, networking, support, and to take a collective breath.
This year, we’re thrilled to be in Denver for our 2018 event. Several amazing local houses have stepped up
Friends and Colleagues,
to help with local resources, planning efforts, and sponsorship support. It’s shaping up to be a great meeting, with a fantastic slate of speakers who know and understand every aspect of what you do. We’ve incorporated learning sessions covering health, operations, management, guest relations, fundraising, and volunteer management. Each of these topics is addressed in sessions appropriate for experienced long-term members, and others are targeted specifically to those who are brand new to our community. In addition, we’re so excited to welcome a world-class keynote Laura Van Dernoot Lipsky, a fantastic Ted Talk presenter sharing her expertise in Trauma Stewardship. You will not want to miss this!! I look forward to taking on a new leadership role, and welcome the opportunity to visit with each of you individually in Denver.
