Electric Park Brake (EPB)Your vehicle is equipped with a new ElectricPark Brake System (EPB) that offers greaterconvenience. The EPB switch is located in thecenter console.

To apply the park brake manually, pull up on theswitch momentarily. The BRAKE warning lampin the instrument cluster and an indicator onthe switch will illuminate.

To release the park brake manually, the ignitionswitch must be in RUN. Then put your foot onthe brake pedal and push the park brake switchdown momentarily. Once the park brake is fullydisengaged, the BRAKE warning lamp and theswitch indicator will extinguish.

The park brake can also be automatically re-leased. With the engine running and the trans-mission in gear, release the brake pedal anddepress the throttle pedal. For safety reasons, your seat belt must also be fastened.

NOTE:

• You may hear a slight whirring sound fromthe back of the vehicle while the parkingbrake engages or disengages.

• If your foot is on the brake pedal while youare engaging or disengaging the parkingbrake, you may notice a small amount ofbrake pedal movement.

• The new Auto Park Brake feature can beused to apply the park brake automaticallyevery time you park the vehicle. Auto ParkBrake can be enabled and disabled in theSettings menu in Uconnect.

• The parking brake can be engaged evenwhen the ignition is OFF, however, it can onlybe disengaged when the ignition is in theRUN mode.

• Safehold is a new feature that will automati-cally apply the park brake under certainconditions. The EPB monitors the status ofthe driver’s seat belt, driver’s door and pedalpositions to determine if the driver may haveexited while the vehicle is still capable ofmoving and will then automatically apply thepark brake to prevent the vehicle fromrolling.

• The EPB fault lamp will illuminate if theEPB switch is held for longer than 20 sec-onds in either the released or applied posi-tion. The light will extinguish upon releasingthe switch.

Auto Park Brake

The EPB can be programmed to be appliedautomatically whenever the vehicle speed isbelow 1.9 mph (3 km/h) and the automatictransmission is placed in PARK, or with amanual transmission, whenever the ignition is

• SNOW: This mode allows you to have greaterstability under conditions of bad weather. It's used on and off road and on surfaceswith poor traction, such as roads coveredwith snow. When in SNOW mode (dependingon certain operating conditions), the trans-mission will use second gear (rather thanfirst gear) during launches, to minimizewheel slippage, except for in 4–Low (Trail-hawk models only).

• SAND: For off-road driving or use on surfaceswith poor traction, such as sandy bottoms. The transmission is set to provide maximumtraction. This mode allows more wheel spinand higher shift points to help motor throughloose areas.

• MUD: For off-road driving or use on surfaceswith poor traction, such as roads covered bymud or wet grass.

• ROCK (Trailhawk only): This mode is onlyavailable in 4WD LOW range. The devicesets the vehicle to maximize traction andallow the highest steering capacity for off-road surfaces. This mode gives you the maxi-mum performance off-road. Use for lowspeed obstacles such as large rocks, deepruts, etc.

Forward Collision Warning WithMitigation — If EquippedThe Forward Collision Warning (FCW) systemprovides the driver with active braking, audibleand visual warnings [within the instrumentcluster display] and may apply a brake jerk towarn the driver when it detects a potentialfrontal collision. The warnings and limitedbraking are intended to provide the driver withenough time to react and avoid or mitigate thepotential collision.

FCW monitors the information from theforward-looking sensor, as well as the Elec-tronic Brake Controller (EBC) to calculate aprobable collision. When the system deter-mines that a collision is probable, a warningmessage (both audible and visual) will be dis-played within the cluster display along with abrake jerk warning (previously enabled in theUconnect Settings). When the system sensesthe driver applying the brakes to avoid a prob-able collision, additional brake force will be

provided to the vehicle. When the system deter-mines a collision with the vehicle in front of youis no longer probable, the warning message willbe deactivated.

NOTE:The FCW feature can be customized and turnedoff through the Uconnect System touchscreen.

LaneSense Warning Message

The LaneSense system will indicate the currentlane drift condition through the instrumentcluster display. The instrument cluster displaywill provide a visual warning depicting the un-intentional lane departure.

When both lane markings are detected and thedriver unintentionally drifts out of the lane (noturn signal applied), the LaneSense systemprovides a haptic warning in the form of torqueapplied to the steering wheel to prompt thedriver to remain within the lane boundaries.

The driver may manually override the hapticwarning by applying torque into the steeringwheel at any time. When only a single lanemarking is detected and the driver unintention-ally drifts across the lane marking (no turnsignal applied), the LaneSense system providesa visual warning through the instrument clusterdisplay to prompt the driver to remain withinthe lane. When only a single lane marking isdetected, a haptic (torque) warning will not beprovided.
