Reference Voltage Test Tips You Should Know

Reference voltage circuits have been part of computer-sensor operation for years. But many technicians still overlook these circuits during diagnosis. Watch out, some reference circuit failures can cause crazy symptoms such as a no-start, no-

code condition – not to mention communication error messages. Learn how to troubleshoot these symptoms methodically with a common digital voltmeter. Don’t miss this class!

Evaluating Rebuild Options When Time is Money

When a rebuild job rolls in, determining the best course of action isn’t easy. Should you repair in-house using aftermarket kits, parts and tools? Choose a good used unit, purchase a remanufactured unit, or contact the dealer for a new or rebuilt unit? You have to make the best decision for your shop, and time is money.

Randall Schroeder 11:30am-1pm

GM’s 10L90 vs Ford’s 10R80

Take a look at how the GM 10L90 10-speed solenoid, valve body and clutch application works, plus the similarities to the Ford 10R80.

Robert Bateman 2pm-3:30pm

Diagnosing Intermittent Electrical Issues

Intermittent electrical issues are one of the most difficult challenges technicians face with today’s vehicles. This seminar will concentrate on common issues and diagnostic strategies to help you isolate the cause of intermittent electrical problems that plague today’s vehicles. You’ll concentrate on isolating the cause of the failure as well as techniques to address the issues so that they don’t return.

Friction 101

Friction materials are often one of the most misunderstood components in a build, but they can have a major impact on whether a customer returns with more business or with a complaint. This seminar will concentrate on the mechanisms

of wet friction systems that include a general review of how friction material is made, how it’s used, performance expectations, and mechanisms of operation. You’ll review how friction material is used in both transmissions and torque converters, and touch on how it can affect cooling, fuel mileage, and capacity needs.

Chris Horbach 5:30pm-7pm

Tips and Tricks from the Builder’s Bench 2018

John brings real world issues to the presentation. He always delivers the latest information you’re seeing in the shops today. His shop is located in Centereach, NY, this year John will be covering current repairs, the causes for repair, and

how to diagnose the job. John will also be sharing scan tool use, diagnostic aids and their relationship to the fix. This is a must-attend show!

John Parmenter 8am-9:30am

ZF’s Mechatronic

In this session, we’ll introduce the basics of Mechatronic operation as well as operations of internal components. Common failures and proper diagnosis will be covered in this class as well. After completing this session, you’ll be able to:

•Describe hydraulic basics •List internal components of the Mechatronic •Differentiate between different types of mechatronics •Understand common failures •Describe differences between pressure regulators and solenoids

Oxygen Sensors and Fuel Trim

Oxygen sensors are critical for proper engine operation. Oxygen sensors have to be working correctly before fuel trims can even be considered valid. Scott will cover oxygen sensor operation and testing as well as fuel trims and broken car examples.

Scott Shotton 8am-9:30am

Honda/Acura Transmission - Past, Present & Future

This seminar will explore the advancement of the Honda transaxle over the past decade, including the CVT, 6-speed, 8-speed, and their new 10-speed transaxle found in the ever-popular Odyssey. Come find out what you’ll see in your service bay in the near future

Sean Boyle 8am-9:30am

MAF Sensors and Fuel Trims

MAF sensors can cause a variety of driveability as well as transmission shifting issues. The engine systems have to be working correctly before you can diagnose a transmission issue. Eric will cover MAF sensor diagnosis and how fuel trims behave when failures occur.

Eric Ziegler 3pm-5pm

Making the Most of Your Diagnostic Equipment with Everyday Failures

Master Rebuilder and Manager of Aamco Technical Institute Reese Blalock will review some commonly encountered failures and how to diagnose these more efficiently using data logging and other techniques. He’ll feature scan tool movies, screenshots, and remote scan tool access using the Snap-on tool line as well as other common tools that’ll save you time and money (and a few headaches).
