RM Sotheby’s starts the year strong with $36.5M and 88 percent of all lots sold in Arizona. The RM Sotheby’s Group launches a formalized Private Sales Division, helmed by veteran specialist Shelby Myers, as Global Head of Private Sales, and RM Sotheby’s CFO, Jarrett Rothmeier. First featured offering is a 1998 McLaren F1 ‘LM-Specification’, which is successfully sold just days following the announcement.

The RM Sotheby’s Group returns to the historic Auburn Auction Park for the eighth annual Auburn Spring collector car weekend, marking the first Auburn sale held under the RM Auctions banner. Sales total more than $6.0M with 84 percent of the 500 lots on offer finding new homes across the two-day sale. RM Auctions has released new dates for Auburn Spring 2019: 31 May – 1 June.

Hypercar fever continues at RM Sotheby’s biannual Monaco auction, with the €23.3M sale topped by a Transformers-themed, 840-km 2015 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, bringing €1,720,625 (Est. €1.2/€1.5m).

JULYRM Sotheby’s furthers its reach in the North American market, announcing a new Los Angeles-proper sale, to be held at the renowned Petersen Automotive Museum, 8 December.

APRILHeld under the RM Auctions banner for the first time (former RM subsidiary Auctions America was integrated into the RM Sotheby’s Group in late 2017), the 16th annual Fort Lauderdale sale achieves $19.1M, with 76 percent of all lots finding new homes. Total tops 2017 performance, notably with a smaller, higher quality offering of motor cars. Top sales are led by a pair of stunning Mercedes-Benz 300 SLs, each offered from significant long-term Michigan homes and representing the first pair of million-dollar-plus lots sold in the event’s history.

The RM Sotheby’s Group returns to Hampton, New Hampshire (23-24 June) for the company’s concluding presentation of The Dingman Collection, achieving an overall $7,027,334 in total sales.

AUGUSTRM Sotheby’s announces the presentation of a 1963 Ferrari 275 P from the renowned Bardinon Collection via its Private Sales Division. Thanks to RM Sotheby’s close relationship with Ferrari Classiche, the Private Sales team confirms that the car is the only Ferrari to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, taking overall victory in both 1963 and 1964.

RM Sotheby’s sells Aston Martin DP215, the pinnacle achievement for the marque’s racing program, for an incredible $21.45M in Monterey, becoming one of the most valuable British motor cars ever sold at auction.

RM Sotheby’s also announces that it will become the official auction partner of Aston Martin in 2019, presenting an additional auction evening during next year’s Monterey weekend, dedicated specifically to Aston Martin.

RM Sotheby’s sells the most valuable car ever sold at auction when Greg Whitten’s 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO brings $48.4M at the company’s flagship Monterey sale.

Collector cars of all kinds shine at RM Auctions’ Auburn Fall sale, a Labor Day weekend tradition for enthusiasts across the United States. Sale totals $21.7M with 81 percent of all lots sold, representing a 12 percent increase in sales over 2017.

At RM Sotheby’s annual London sale, the company sees success across all categories with top-sale honors going to a 2003 Ferrari Enzo, which proved its star quality by selling for £1.97 million to nearly eclipse its high estimate. For 2019, RM Sotheby’s will move its annual London sale to 5 November, once again at Battersea Evolution.

OCTOBERRM Sotheby’s 12th annual Hershey sale, coinciding with the AACA’s Eastern Division Fall Meet, achieves $10.9M across two evenings of spirited bidding, with 94 percent of all lots sold. American rarities starred at the auction, including the one-off 1911 American Eagle Touring, which drew multiple bidders in the room and on the phone, selling for a final $242,000 and tripling its high estimate.

RM Sotheby’s sells a 1977 Ferrari 512 BB, the only example finished in Oro Chiaro Metalizzato over Testa di Moro brown leather, for £394,000 in Sotheby’s The Midas Touch auction – the first sale of its kind dedicated entirely to gold. Successful sale further demonstrates the incredible power of RM / Sotheby’s partnership.

At the company’s first-ever single-marque Porsche sale – The Porsche 70th Anniversary Auction held at the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta, the home of Porsche Cars North America, RM Sotheby’s sells the highly anticipated air-cooled 2018 Porsche 911 Turbo Classic Series “Project Gold” for an astounding $3.4M, while the 1985 Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar, the very first example ever presented at auction, brings a record-setting, above-estimate $5.94M.
