They will analyse poetry by texts by exploring the context, purpose and audience and how language features and devices can be adapted to create new meaning. Students will write and present a poem. Students write and present a poem, using appropriate speaking skills and explore ways in which the language features and devices can be highlighted in a performance through the use of pace, pitch, tone, volume and gesture. Maths Students will study number and place value up to 10 000, including word problems. They will investigate money and financial mathematics. Students will study fractions of shapes, objects and collections, recognising equivalent fractions and solving fraction problems. They will explore location and transformation, symmetry, angles, 3 dimensional shapes, chance and data and multiplication and division. Students will recall multiplication facts, solve multiplication problems and model and represent unit fractions. They will match positions on maps, identify symmetry in the environment, make a model of a three-dimensional object and recognise angles in real situations. Science Students will investigate how heat is produced and the behaviour of heat when it transfers from an object or area to another. They will identify that heat can be observed by touch and that formal measurements of heat (temperature) can be taken, using a thermometer. Students will identify that heat transfers from warmer areas to cooler areas. Students will plan and conduct investigations about heat and heat transfer and will collect data safely, using appropriate equipment to record formal measurements. HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences) In HASS students will describe the importance of making decisions democratically and propose individual action in response to a democratic issue. They will explain the role of rules in their community and share their views on an issue related to rule-making.
