Clinical Quality Forum DoubleTree by Hilton

Each year in April, NJPCA diligently works to put together an informative and inspiring day-long training

around quality improvement. This annual event has been specifically designed to share best practices and

innovative projects that directly support quality improvement and compliance at NJ’s FQHCs. This event will

feature educational sessions on how to increase colorectal cancer screening rates, how to incorporate

diabetes care management strategies, and how to provide opioid substance abuse treatment integrated within

primary care. Quality Forum attendees include Community Health Center Executives, Chief Medical Officers,

Chief Information Officers, IT Directors, Clinical Leadership, Compliance and Operations Staff, Quality

Improvement Staff, Care Team Members, and Patient-Centered Health Home Initiative Champions.

Health Centers from across the State provide wonderful Storyboards sharing the great work they are

doing at their FQHCs and recounting successful integration of services and/or initiatives. Storyboards are

judged by special guests and Quality Forum sponsors, who select the top three Storyboards to win a prize.

Women’s Health Week Legislative Luncheon

Each year, the NJPCA hosts a Women’s Health Week Luncheon. Last year’s theme was Mad Hatter from

the story of Alice in Wonderland. Over 100 attendees from across the State joined us down the rabbit hole,

wearing their maddest hats to celebrate women’s health. The Luncheon featured presentations from leading

women’s health experts, Helen Dao of Dao Management Consulting Services, Ernestine Shepherd, Guinness

Book of World Records oldest female body builder, and breast cancer warrior, Lisa Petrillo. All three women

shared their personal and professional experiences on their journey to living a healthier life. Topics such as

nutrition, general physical health, the importance of exercise, mental health, gynecological health, breast and

colorectal cancer were discussed at the luncheon. The panel of speakers achieved the goal of leaving the

audience empowered to make their health a top priority!

This year, join us as we celebrate Women’s Health Week in legislative style at our State Capitol. With

legislative supporters in attendance, we will also be joined by attendees from across the New Jersey

healthcare landscape including a spectrum of industries and interests, i.e. the Department of Health, health

center CEOs and staff, elected officials, hospital and insurance company representatives, lobbyists, mental

health agencies and consumer advocates as well as legislative staff.

Last year, NJPCA held the Peer Support Networking Reception at Harrah’s in Atlantic City,

with drinks and appetizers for all. The Peer Support Networking Reception includes Billing

Directors, Communications Network, Emergency Management Committee, Chief Financial

Officers, Human Resources Directors, Medical and Dental Directors, Nursing Directors,

Outreach & Enrollment, Directors of Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement, and Special

Populations. All peer support work groups meet the first hour individually and then in a

Breakout Breakfast

The Breakout Breakfast Session has quickly become one of the most anticipated learning

sessions of the NJPCA Annual Conference. Each year, NJPCA develops programing that

generates a deeper understanding of the care that FQHCs provide. The morning breakfast

session is always unique, interesting, and challenges attendees to think outside of the box.

Last year, the Breakout Breakfast focused on the importance of eliminating LGBTQ health

disparities and enhancing efforts to improve LGBTQ health. The Breakout Breakfast

provided audience with both a personal story from New Jersey’s first High School

transgender athlete and a New Jersey FQHC physician’s perspective. As the event sponsor,

National Health Center Week (NHCW) is a celebration observed in August each year recognizing the service

and contributions of New Jersey’s Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), their dedicated staff, board

members, and all those responsible for the continued success and growth of the program. During this week-

long event, NJPCA and the FQHCs celebrate the legacy of Community Health Centers and their vital role in

providing access to affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to the underserved and high-risk

populations in the State.

One in every fifteen people across the nation receives care at community health centers. Across the nation,

community health centers provide care to over 23 million Americans. New Jersey’s 24 health centers and

their 134 satellites are a part of the 9,200 centers across the United States.

Each year the NJPCA and a selected FQHC host a kick-off event on the Monday of NHCW. The kick-off
