Well, it’s that time of year again! Summer is just around the corner and it’s time to think about Summer activities for your kids. The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri’s Summer Program begins on June 4th and will be going full-steam ahead until Friday, August 10th.

Kinder Camp and Elementary (1st -4th Grade)2505 West 32nd Street

Summer is a time to have fun, play in the water and just hang out. As a result of all of this “hangin out” kids lose alot of what they learned during the school year. Boys & Girls Club programs are designed so that kids “think” they are just having fun but they are actually learning alot at the same time. Staff have planned a great summer filled with activities that will spark your child’s creative side, and keep their minds and bodies active and having fun! There will be some really awesome field trips, a “Construction Room”, lots of arts & crafts and STEAM activities. For those kids that are currently members - they already know how much fun it is coding and building robots!

Once again we will be swimming at Centennial Pool. Each grade level is scheduled to go to the pool one day each week. The cost is $3 per child per swim day or $1 with Parks & Rec’s summer swim pass. This helps with the cost of transportation and extra staff to help keep the kids safe.

Kinder Camp and the Elementary Club (K-4) have a daily fee of $10. 5th Grade and up are only $5 per day. The daily fee includes activities, lunch and an afternoon snack. If you need financial assistance just let us know.

Club membership is required to participate in any of our programs. If your child is currently enrolled in the 2017-18 afterschool program, simply sign-up with the Club at your school and do a little bit of paperwork. If you are new to the Boys & Girls Club, return the completed forms as soon as possible and pay your $10 annual membership fee. Parents/Guardians of new members will need to attend a short orientation.

Transportation is provided by the Club. Each grade goes swimming once per week during the course of the program according to the following schedule:

Program Participation Consent Form The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri provides programs that promote positive behaviors, health, well-being and personal success. With these protective factors, young people have the tools to overcome the many challenges they face today. positive impact our programming provides. Research shows that attending the

Club at least 52 times or more a year results in greater positive outcomes. By

agreeing to the items below, your child will enjoy the full impact that our

programs have to offer.

We have put together some basic tips to help ensure our Summer Program is safe, as well as fun, for our members. Please take a moment to carefully read the Safety Tips & Guidelines on the next page. Keep it to put on your fridge or somewhere for later reference if needed. Please sign and return this page indicating that you have read the Safety Tips & Guidelines and are in agreement.

Safety Tips & Guidelines

~Every day parents should walk in with their children

to sign them in and out of the program at the welcome station.

~This is for your child’s safety and your peace of mind!

~It also gives us a chance to tell you what great things your child

will be doing that day and of their daily successes and achievements!

~For safety reasons members should wear tennis shoes.

~No open-toed shoes, sandals, or flip flops please!

You wouldn’t believe the amount of band-aids we go through!

~No “hot pants” style shorts, mini-skirts, halters or shirts that show the tummy!

~No itsy-bitsy or thong bikini swimsuits, please!

~To show respect for the facility and the Club,

food and/or drinks are allowed only in designated areas.

~Always follow the Code of Conduct and Discipline Policy

as detailed in your Parent/Member Handbook.

BGC STAFF DO NOT ADMINISTER MEDICATION.

If your child needs to take medication, speak to the Site Manager for the proper procedure.

~Please, explain to your child that if they bring their phone it must be put away!

SWIMMING

~Flip-flops ARE allowed at the pool!

Members may bring flip-flops to change into for swimming.

~No itsy-bitsy or thong bikini swimsuits, please! (I know, I repeated that one)

~Remember to send a towel for them to dry with!

$$$ ~The cost of swimming is $3 each day they go to the pool.

~To ensure your child doesn’t miss out on going to the pool, be sure their

money is turned in before 11am on their swim day.

~The hours for the summer program are 6:30am – 5:30pm.

~Children must not arrive earlier than 6:30 am and be picked up no later than 5:30pm.

Program fees are due every Friday for that week’s attendance!
