handling, turned back a bid from BRANCUSI leaving the three furlong marker, then expanded his advantage in the drive undersix, well-spaced right-handed strokes of the whip. BRANCUSI angled in approaching the first turn while gaining a forwardposition, tightened it up on GREAT NOTION which forced that one to check nearing the first turn, edged up outside PEACERULES to press the pace four wide, was asked for his best leaving the three-eighths pole, then couldn't sustain the neededmomentum while clearly second best. OFFLEE WILD exchanged bumps approaching the first turn with CROWNED DANCERwhen that one was forced in by GREAT NOTION, settled inside within easy striking distance, saved ground to the stretch, cameout five wide when straightened for the drive, was empty the last eighth but much the best of the others.
