TRAINING NEEDS ASSESSMENT (TNA)

You have recently upgraded or purchased a state-of-the-art automation system. However, is your workforce able to exploit its full benefits?

Training Needs Assessment (TNA) is a service that effectively identifies gaps between the capabilities of your Honeywell Automation & Control system and the skills of your operations and maintenance workforce. The outcome of TNA is a comprehensive training plan focused on improving the skills, knowledge and performance of your plant’s personnel, resulting in maximum benefits from your automation investment.

Training Needs Assessment = Desired System Capability - Current Workforce Competency

Plant Data CollectionStudy of installed base, process automation and safety

systems along with any advanced and/or business

applications.

Gap AnalysisEvaluation of the existing skill levels against the benchmark

levels required to safely and efficiently operate, maintain,

administer or manage the automation system.

Identification of gaps in skills, possible risks, under

utilization of the system’s capabilities and inefficiencies

due to lack of knowledge.

Reporting + Training ProgramA comprehensive training plan that addresses the issues

identified in the gap analysis along with the training

schedule.

People Data CollectionUnderstanding of the job roles of those involved in

the maintenance, operations, engineering, system

administration, supervision and management of the

E-LEARNING SOLUTIONS

Honeywell Automation College offers different delivery methods for our e-learning courses. Each of these options reduces travel expense, minimizes time away from home and scheduled work, offers more flexibility in completing course work, and helps participants complete training “just-in-time”.

All e-learners are provided access to training materials via recorded lectures, demonstration videos and electronic course documentation. Questions and answers are addressed while 24-hour access to remote servers is provided for hands-on practice and lab assignments.

E-learning options

Asynchronous Training (AT): Asynchronous courses are

self-directed and are given an extended amount of time

for students to complete the training at their own pace.

Questions are addressed to an instructor via a designated

mailbox.

Virtual Training (VT): Virtual courses have an initial ‘live’

one-hour course orientation and daily ‘live’ Q&A sessions

with an instructor. Each course event has established set

dates for students to complete their training.

Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT): Virtual Instructor-

Led courses have a full time ‘live’ instructor to deliver

the training lectures. Participants and instructor are not

physically in the same location. Courses have set dates

scheduled for training.

Recorded Training (RT): These recordings are typically 1-2

hours duration and address specific themes. For example,

identify the differences between a new product release and

a previous release with which you might already be familiar.

You have the ability to access all or part of these recordings

as often as you wish for a specified duration.

What are the benefits?

• Time and place flexibility with solutions that can be completed from anywhere, at any time.

• Staff remain on-site to be able to quickly respond to plant issues and travel eliminated.

• Electronic course documentation is downloadable for future reference.

• Recorded Lectures including audio voice, text, graphics and images. Lectures can be resumed at any time and viewed several times.

• Demonstration Videos for an easy understanding of complex tasks on Honeywell systems. They can also be resumed at any time and viewed several times.

• Learning track for a fast return to the last viewed sequence and performance monitoring throughout the training module.

• 24-hour access to remote virtual machines that allows e-learners to execute hands-on practice and lab assignments at their own pace and own schedule.

• During live Q&A sessions, a dedicated instructor answers participants’ questions using a conferencing system.

Who should attend

The Technical Development Program is beneficial for both

new hires and high potential engineers and technicians,

looking for a fast-track learning experience on state-of-the-

art process instrumentation and automation technologies.

Venue

The program takes place at our HPS EMEA Automation

College located in Brussels, Belgium. The real-life hands-on

plant experience exercises take place at the pilot plant at

ACTA, our partner in this Technical Development Program.

The ACTA training facility is a full scale process plant,

divided into several sections which can either be used

as stand-alone small units, or combined to build a

complete plant. Each section has measurement and

control equipment (flow, level, pressure, temperature). The

instruments are connected to a DCS, so trending, changing

of control parameters (PID), combining different sensors –

actuators, is possible. ACTA includes a small scale Biodiesel

Purification Unit for additional training purposes.

UNIFORMANCE PHDHoneywell’s Uniformance® Process History Database (PHD) provides a rich, flexible environment for the collection, storage,

and analysis of process data. Its collector/shadow architecture allows data to be gathered from disparate control systems

and other data sources, into a unified database for long-term storage. The PHD database may be centrally configured

and managed, gathering data from many systems including Honeywell Experion® Process Knowledge System (PKS) and

TotalPlant® Solution (TPS), OPC Servers, and other third-party sources. This data is “shadowed” into a single centralized

database, allowing engineers and plant management to analyze the performance of the entire operation from a single
