2019 Annual Native Plant Sale (& Garden Vegetable Plants, too!)
Saturday, May 11th 9 am - 12 Noon
By the front doors of South Milwaukee Middle School—1001 15th Ave. Are your thoughts turning to summer? Are you dreaming of your garden this year? If so, you may want to consider using landscaping plants that are:
* attractive and interesting * hardy, needing very low maintenance * able to thrive in a wide range of soil/sun conditions * native to Wisconsin * perennial (no replanting every year!)
Look no further! On Saturday, May 11th, 9 am - Noon, the SMMS Environmental Club will hold our 2019 Annual Native Plant Sale. We’ll be selling a wide variety of beautiful native flowering plants, garden vegetables and herbs. This year’s species include: Butterfly Weed, Common Milkweed, Broad-leaved Purple Coneflower, Prairie Smoke, Blue Flag Iris, Prairie Blazing Star, Cardinal Flower, Great Blue Lobelia, Sweet Black-eyed Susan, Wild Petunia, Little Bluestem, Big Bluestem, Prairie Dropseed and a huge assortment of tomatoes, peppers, vegetables and herbs. Just in time for Mother’s Day, these plants would make wonderful gifts! In 2 ½-inch pots, prices start as low as $1 per plant, well below garden center prices, with proceeds going to support our own SMMS Environmental Club. For more detailed plant information check out our Species Info Chart on the district website: www.sdsm.k12.wi.us. Pre-sale orders are accepted, but not necessary--contact Chris Bosetti at 766-5890.
