the course begins with key discussions on Barrett’s surveillance and ablation, reviewing several societal guidelines that include a 2016 guideline from the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), 2012 and 2018 guidelines from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and a 2011 guideline and 2016 expert review from the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA).

Faculty will then discuss ESD versus EMR for polyps. EMR is the most commonly used technique for resection of large distal colorectal adenomas, yet there are some important limitations. This will be compared to endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), which is more technically difficult, resulting in longer procedural time. However, ESD is promising due to the high en-bloc resection rates and very low recurrence rates. Presentations will highlight healthcare resource utilization and costs along with perceived quality of life among patients.

additional topics will focus on duodenal cancer, the most common cause of death in familial adenomatous polyposis. This will be followed by a review of the revised Atlanta classification for pancreatic fluid collection in acute pancreatitis and how this facilitates standardized reporting of clinical and imaging data as well as objective assessment of treatment, fostering effective communication among the clinical team.

and if you are looking for more topics, faculty will discuss emerging endoscopic diagnostics and therapeutics for pancreatic cystic lesions and biliary strictures. Emerging EUS and ERCP innovations will be discussed and put in context with the existing guidelines regarding the diagnosis and management of neoplastic cysts and biliary neoplasia.

our program is designed to engage the audience with faculty through audience response along with question, answer and discussion. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy lunch with the speakers and discuss challenging cases and techniques.

WHY You sHouLd atteNdJoin asge’s esteemed faculty who will review and highlight a number of emerging diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic techniques outlined in the literature and their implication in clinical practice.
