2019 SOCCER CHAMPIONS COACHES' CLINIC AT THE MOHEGAN SUN CONVENTION CENTER - UNCASVILLE, CT

Welcome to the 2019 Soccer Champions Coaches’ Clinic at Mohegan Sun!

In this, the 17th year of our Clinic, we are excited to see so many familiar faces return; and we are excited to welcome new coaches and presenters into the fold, as well. We have a tradition of excellence at Soccer Champions, and we are glad you all can join us for a few days to focus on soccer, learn from one another, get inspired, and have some fun.

Over the last 17 years, we’ve lost some good friends. In 2017 we lost our dear friend and coaching legend, Tony DiCicco. Tony was incredibly passionate about coaching education. We miss him and think of him often; and we thank him for the difference he made – in this event and in our lives.

This year, we mourn the loss of two giants of the game who were incredibly good friends to this event – Dick Bate and Sigi Schmid.

One of the world's premier coach educators, Dick returned to Soccer Champions from England year after year to share his deep understanding of the game with coaches of every level. He was an inspiration to all who met him; and he was an even better person – loyal, generous with his time and knowledge, gracious, and thoughtful. Dick's work and legacy will live on forever in the thousands of coaches he inspired.

Sigi is one of America’s great coaches. He is the winningest coach in Major League Soccer history (winning 2 MLS titles and twice named MLS Coach of the Year), a United States National Team Coach and a three-time national champion coach at UCLA. He was inducted in the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2015. Sigi presented at our Clinic multiple times, enthusiastically sharing his passion for the game he loved.

We dedicate this year’s clinic to the memory of these great coaches and people; and to their dedication to helping other coaches achieve at the highest levels.

This clinic is and always has been about the people. Coming here, you get multiple days of coaching education by some of the world’s best soccer instructors and a chance to exchange ideas and learn from each other.

We thank Mohegan Sun for their hospitality, and we thank the United Soccer Coaches, Connecticut Junior Soccer Association, U.S. Futsal and the Positive Coaching Alliance for their partnership. We also thank adidas and all of our sponsors and exhibitors.
