Yakima Valley A.V.A 72% Sugar loaf 28% Elephant Mountain TECHNICAL DATA Our 2019 GSM is a vibrant ruby red with purple hues peeking through. THE aromatics and taste in this wine are fresh strawberries, black pepper, spiced plum, and morel mushrooms. It has earthy savory notes that balance the fruit characteristics coming through. The finish is bright and elegant, with a pleasantly soft-textured mouthfeel. The three varieties in this wine complement and balance each other, making this an exceptional wine that is approachable young but will age gracefully over the years. The 2019 growing season was unique. Late winter weather left snow in the vineyard in February all the way into March, delaying pruning and other vineyard work. Summer temperatures were cooler, with a notable lack of heat spikes. A minor frost event at the end of September was followed by a series of larger, statewide frosts and freezes in early to mid-October. Cooler temperatures contributed to lower overall sugar accumulation and higher acidities, which we welcomed in this vintage. The grapes were then fermented with 30% stem inclusion in open-top bins. Then aged on lees in large format French oak barrels to accentuate savory characteristics, while softening the texture and finish. J.
