LETR agencies from five counties carried the Flame of Hope torch into Opening Ceremonies and awarded medals to athletes at five of the six SONM State Games
LETR hosted a Reveal The Champion – SONM Mission Tour (May 2nd, ABQ)
Over 55 activated and “piggy back” LETR agencies carried the Flame of Hope Torch across New Mexico for the State Relay Run & Final Leg (May 8th – 19th, Statewide)
NMLETR held elections for State Director, Assistant State Director, Regional Coordinators
31 of 69 LETR activated agencies raised a combined total of $139,434 in 2018; no 7-Eleven campaign ($70K)
LETR Mission
The Law Enforcement Torch Run® is a community-building
organization that promotes and empowers New Mexico law
enforcement agencies to raise awareness and funds year-
round for Special Olympics New Mexico –while providing
opportunities, encouragement, and hope to SONM athletes
and families in the process.
Vision
To be the lead funding source and awareness vehicle for
SONM’s athletes and their families, state sports
competitions & local programs.
To be a/the leading social engagement and advocacy
program for the LE community---connecting and showcasing
our LE agencies, officers and their families.

Nomination and selection criteria includes having raised
enough funds in the previous year to meet LETR International
Conference cost (i.e. Total Registration, Hotel, and Airline
expenses) AND have completed all three of the following LETR
Frontline Activities within the same qualifying program year:
1) Awarded Medals to Athletes at an Area/State Games
2) Hosted an LETR Special Event Fundraiser (e.g. Tip-A-Cop,
Polar Plunge, etc.)
3) Carried the Flame of Hope torch in the annual State Relay
Run.
