BLAZER BEACH BASH HOMECOMING 2019 INTRODUCTION FOR FACULTY AND STAFF

Welcome Blazers!

This year we are pleased to offer opportunities for faculty and staff departments to take part in the Homecoming festivities!

There are three judged competitions offered during homecoming week and this packet will share all the relevant information about each one.

Parade Entry

We also invite you to set up a watch party for family and friends along the parade route Saturday morning. Parade rolls at 11 am from Oak Street parking lot and follows Oak Street to Georgia Avenue circling campus to Patterson Street and turning on W Brookwood Drive for the return to Oak Street parking lot.

Show your Homecoming spirit by decorating your department or office door in the best Blazer Beach Bash themed decorations. Judging will begin on Tuesday by 3:00 pm.

Wednesday, October 16

Poster Contest

Show your department spirit by decorating a Blazer Beach Bash theme poster that will be displayed in the Student Union on Thursday through Saturday of homecoming week. Judging on Thursday.

Saturday, October 19

Parade

Join parade marshals Drs. Richard and Cheryl Carvajal, our student organizations, and local businesses in our annual homecoming parade. You may enter an office or department Blazer Beach Bash decorated crazy vehicle or even a themed float.

Not able to have a parade entry? Set up a viewing party for family and friends along Patterson Street. Parade rolls at 11 am.

FACULTY/STAFF CONTEST PRIZES Each Faculty/Staff Department entry will be judged by the Homecoming Committee and the following prizes will be announced during the Homecoming Football Game.

Overall Winner: The Helmet

The overall winning faculty/staff Department will get to display the traveling helmet in their office until it is awarded again at the following year’s Homecoming. The helmet currently resided in the Access Office.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be presented.

Poster Contest

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons will be presented.

Criteria: The posters will be evaluated based on the following scale:

1-5 creativity

1-5 theme

1-5 visual appeal

1-5 Blazer spirit

Timeline: Posters must be turned into the Student Life office by 5:30 on Wednesday.

Posters will be displayed in the Student Union on Thursday where judging will take place.
