Notes

Lanes for each race are numbered UPWARDS from Lane 1, which is on the Western side of the course.Crews check you have the correct bow number before you leave the beachAny crew which qualifies for a final & then fails to start will be severely penalised.If the Regatta is running late, it is the Liaison Officers’ responsibility to ask that time gaps be maintained.A crew which considers that its race was not properly run must make an objection to the Umpire before leaving the finish area. All crews to proceed slowly through the landing and take off areas.Crews not in the starters hands or waiting with the Marshall 2 minutes before the start time can be excluded from the race.

Scratchings & Substitutions:Scratchings & crew changes including coxswains must be notified on the official form or on-line 30 minutes before its race.

The Bow Number Station is located at the warm-up lake side of the RWA Umpire’s Bay.Clubs are to sign-out their bow numbers prior to each race & sign them in IMMEDIATELY after the race.Clubs will be charged for the replacement of any bow numbers either damaged, or not returned after the race.

Rowing WA's Level 1 Boat Race Official Course provides training to

those that have no or minimal background in rowing, or those more

experienced, who wish to go down the officiating pathway

It is great for parents or people who are at Regattas who wish to be more

involved with the sport and it is also a great extension from the Regatta

Volunteer opportunities Rowing WA currently offers.

Training is provided in:regattas proceduresrules of racingjudgingumpiringmarshallingradio protocols, andsafety protocols.

The course is open to anyone over the age of 16.

Get Involved!

After the successful completion of the above the participant will be required to spend approximately 5 hours in each area with a mentor to achieve accreditation as a Level I

Official. The amount of time actually spent will vary according to the function - ie: Control Commission will probably be less than Umpiring.
