I am a hand builder and construct from slabs of stoneware and porcelain. Pieces are sculpted by hand and once dry, Bisque fired then hand glazed by brush in multiple bright colors and glazed fired to cone 5/6. I am mostly self-taught. I took Ceramics in high school but did not pur-sue the craft until I decided to set up my own studio several years ago. I do have a few classes under my belt from both local artists and folk schools. But for the most part, I read a lot on the subject and of course trial and error.

Jack Northrop

814-837-4957 [email protected]

Jack Northrop turns bowls knowing each piece is going to be different. He lets the wood tell him what to make. Jack uses local hardwoods and salvage or scrap wood for his art; black cherry, walnut, maple, butternut, locust, sumac and others. He uses pieces left from log-ging, pieces left in the woods after timbering, and pieces from veneer logs left at the sawmill. It is all found wood; wood that people can’t use. He never cuts down a live, healthy tree to turn a bowl.

PA Wilderness Skills www.pawildernessskills.com

570-261-4884 [email protected]

From our humble beginnings as a YouTube channel, PA Wilderness Skills has grown into a full line of survival/wilderness skills trainings, events, and original merchandise. In an effort to pass along and prevent the loss of the outdoor skills of our ancestors, we put together some original skills kits. Each kit covers one or more primitive skills and gives you a working tool when you are finished. Since we develop, manufacture, and package the kits ourselves, we are able to offer them wholesale to PA Wilds retail businesses. We also host an annual weekend event in the fall called the Uitwaaien Bushcraft Gathering. Last year we saw around 150 people for the weekend including instructors, vendors and attendees. Based on the past events, we look for an increase in attendance this year, possi-bly reaching 300-350 total! It is a great place for people to learn outdoor skills, buy mer-chandise from knowledgeable vendors, and get together with like-minded people for the weekend. We still continue to offer our standard wilderness skills classes along with cus-tom classes created specifically for groups and organizations.
