NEW FAMOUS [BRZ] was an excellent and versatile Graded race winning performer, mainly on the

turf, at Rio de Janeiro’s Gavea track. He won 5 races from 1100 m to 1600 m, including the Grande

Premio Estado Rio de Janeiro, Gr.1 (1600 m, in 1:34.0 by 4 lengths), the Grande Premio Jose

Buarque de Macedo Gr.3 (1600 m), the Classico Julio Capua LR (1600 m), Classico Ernani de

Freitas LR (1600 m) and placed second despite heavy going in the Grande Premio F E de Paula

Machado Gr.1 (2000 m). As a result of his performances, he was nominated the Champion Three

Year Old and Champion Miler in Brazil.

He died early after only limited opportunities at stud. The following are his brief statistics.

ARAZAN was bred and raced by the Aga Khan. From 3 starts at 2 years, he won the Galileo EBF

Futurity Stakes Gr. 2, 1400m and was third in the Bank of Scotland National Stakes Gr.1, 1400m

– both leading Irish two year old races at The Curragh.

He was a stablemate of future champion SEA THE STARS, and was considered by his trainer to

be in a similar class as a two-year-old and good enough to potentially place within the first

three in the 2000 Gns. (Newmarket), had he been able to run (personal communication).

However his career was cut short by illness. He is also half brother to the successful European

sire AZAMOUR.

His sire ANABAA was Champion European Sprinter winning 8 races incl July Cup Gr.1, Prix

Maurice de Gheest Gr.1 & Prix du Gros-Chene Gr.2. He became a leading sire of 165 blacktype

winners over middle distances too incl. the noted multi-Gr.1 winning miler GOLDIKOVA, and

the French Derby winner ANABAA BLUE.

Retired to stud in India in 2011. From 4 full crops to race, his record reads as below. His 5th crops

are juveniles in training.

This colt, out of a winning mare by BURDEN OF PROOF, is grandson of the top class race mare

LITTLEOVER, who won the Indian Derby Gr.1, Bangalore Derby Gr.1, Bangalore Oaks Gr.1,

Bangalore 1000 Gns Gr.2. and the Fillies Trial Gr.2, besides placing in the Indian Turf Invitation

Cup.

Besides her racing performance, LITTLEOVER also established a very successful blacktype family

incl. CAMARIOCA (Mysore 1000 Gns.), CAMERON (Calcutta 1000 Gns. & Oaks, Golconda St

Leger, 2nd Deccan Derby ), CAMORRA (Nizams Gold Cup & Classic placed), as also the classic

Second foal of a mare from the reputed ELGIN MARBLES female line. Her first foal CARMELLA

is in training.

The female family stemming from ELGIN MARBLES is noted for having produced multiple

Dk.Bay filly (7th Apr ) – Lot 164 In the Blue Pages of the Sales Catalogue

STRIKING BEAUTY was a speedy racemare who won 4 races incl: the Bahrain Trophy, Mumbai.

She has produced 7 winners of 24 races from her first 7 foals – all her runners to-date. Her 2-

year-old KINGS PRINCE is in training.

The next dam TIMELESS BEAUTY was a high class performer, winning the F D Wadia Trophy

Gr.2 and placing 2nd in the Poonawalla Breeders’ Million Gr.1 and the Indian 2000 Gns. Gr.1 as

well as 3rd in the Indian 1000 Gns. Gr.1. It is worth recalling that in the 2000 Gns. she very nearly

upset the Triple Crown winner INDICTMENT. She died prematurely leaving STRIKING BEAUTY as

her only foal.

Dk.Bay filly (12th Apr ) – Lot 167 In the Blue Pages of the Sales Catalogue

LEONORA was a winner and is dam from 3 runners of 2 winners: ALL IS WELL (Rs. 7,62,500) and

POWERHAUS (Rs.10,09,000). She is half sister to the champion racehorse BOURBON KING (21

wins incl: the Indian 2000 Gns. Gr.1, Kingfisher Derby Bangalore Gr.1 & Poonawalla Breeders’

Multi Million Gr.1 ), MAGISTERIAL and 8 other winners, 5 of which have earned black type.

The next dam QUEEN ANN, was 2nd in the President of India Gold Cup Gr.1 and 3rd in the Indian

Derby Gr.1. She represents one branch of the strong female family established by MAANDAVI,

who was dam of the Indian Derby Gr.1 winner DESERT WARRIOR and of LA BONNE VIE who

very narrowly lost the Indian Derby Gr.1.

This filly offers excellent dual value as a racehorse and as a future broodmare in view of the

depth of black type performance in the female line.
