Moving Radar MARPA and AIS targets will now display a graduated trail showing the vessels past position history on the radar PPI. A new selection dialog under Settings > Vessels is used to set the duration of the history

Associated target. When an acquired radar MARPA target and an AIS target are deemed to be the same vessel, the system will display the two targets as one symbol. This reduces the number of AIS symbols and radar targets on the PPI. The association function also compensates for a possible failure in one of the two targets, e.g., if the radar tracked target is positioned behind an island, the system keeps tracking and visualizing the AIS target.Note: The MARPA radar target continues to be analyzed by the system when the target association is active.Note: Optimal use for this feature is tracking class A AIS targets as their broadcast position is updated more often than Class-B.

Dangerous target alerts© Navico

A new Dangerous Target Alert will warn the operator of dangerous radar and AIS targets according to the dangerous target parameters in Settings>Vessels>Vessels and Tracked Targets. The Dangerous Target Alert provides a simple diagram in a pop-up window that appears on the bottom left of the screen. It will show the range, the graphical bearing and heading of the vessel in relation to operators vessel. This is a significant safety and situational awareness tool that not only alerts the user, but guides them to the relative range and bearing of the dangerous target. The user can dismiss the alert, choose to view the dangerous target on the chart or disable the alarm. Note: disable could be used when entering high traffic areas.

Enable this feature under Alarms > Settings. Select the Dangerous vessel check box.The general use of this feature is in open water. Approaching ports may cause multiple alarms and become distracting. If this is the case, select Disable from the dangerous target alarm panel or uncheck the setting listed above.Vessels with AIS transmitters should enter their own vessels MMSI number under Settings > Vessels . NMEA 0183 AIS now broadcast over NMEA 2000© Navico

Traditionally, vessels that have an AIS receiver with only NMEA 0183 output would have to wire the AIS to each MFD that they wanted to display AIS data on. This would often require the use of powered splitters and extra data cables. This software now enables an NMEA 0183 AIS receiver to be connected to just one MFD. The data is then converted to NMEA 2000 and broadcast to all other MFDs on the network.

The feature is enabled by the check box “Send AIS data on NMEA2000” under Settings > Network > NMEA 0183.Set on one MFD only

SteadySteer Support (RPU pump series)

SteadySteer is an autopilot performance enhancement, currently for existing Simrad NAC-2, NAC-3 autopilot computers fitted with an RPU series autopilot drives. By adding the SteadySteer control valve, this enables a more intuitive user experience by allowing the vessel operator to disengage and engage the autopilot through moving the helm allowing for easy course corrections and simple operation. This software enables the SteadySteer feature on the MFD

• Sonar fixes and improvements for NSS Evo3S.– There have been some reports of echosounder locking up and stop pinging or inability to find the bottom once the

bottom is lost. Reports of sea temperature flashing on and off with subsequent pausing of the echosounder pinging.– There have been some enhancements to the CHIRP scheme to provide a more consistent bottom picture through

changes of burst length which may happen during range changes. These changes also provide better fish images in shallow water. There have been some reports of some diagonal interference lines occurring in deep water when using offset ranges in 2 different frequencies. Changes have been incorporated to remove this effect.

– When running dual-channel split-screen, in some circumstances pausing channel 1 causes channel 2 to slow. This has been fixed in this build.

– When running Active Imaging 3 in 1, into Sonar Hub, it was possible to choose a chirp frequency while running structure scan. This results in a blank screen on the Structure Scan. It is no longer possible to choose chirp while running structure scan, and a message is generated on screen to advise the user.

• Offset change for HS60, HS70, HS75, HS80: It is now possible to apply a bearing offset to these GPS compass units• We had some reports that the Radar range rings are too dim and not very visible when the screen backlight was dimmed. This

release has an improved Radar PPI that has more visible range rings• The compass heading indicator on NAV page function will now reflect the value in either degrees True or Magnetic• The draft of the boat below 1.0 meter can now be set in the boat settings dialog. • Tides widget added to the instrument bar of NSO evo3S

• Boat settings are now global. The setting of the boat length, draft, beam and height had entered on each MFD on the network, it can now be entered on one MFD and this is then shared to other MFDs (over Ethernet)

• There is now an option to cancel or stop navigating an active from the route details menu• In certain languages, some translated text did not fit in the Autopilot control bar. This has been fixed• It is now possible to show the vessel position on the chart of a received VHF distress call• The chart shading layer for Navionics chart now defaults to off. This can be reactivated by selecting Chart Menu>More

options > Chart options >Shading• A Graphical direction indicator is now shown for Apparent & True wind angle data when shown on the side data bar• C-MAP chart presentation improvements to help declutter the chart• An issue was reported where the Navigation change limit in AP Steering settings menu could not be changed. This is now

fixed• Fix for the Radar EBL when set to True/Mag. When the EBL bearing mode is set to True/Mag, the EBL still moved relative to

the vessel head. This was incorrect. Now when set to True/Mag, the EBL will be set to a bearing (with reference to true or magnetic north) and stay at that bearing irrespective of the vessel heading

• An issue relating to incorrect trim values from mercury engines has been fixed. (in conjunction with VesselView Link Software)

• Generator information can now be shown on the instrument panel

• Improvement to echosounder single/multi-source selection. The system now detects if a single source echosounder device is present or if an MFD is running in single source mode is on the network and will prompt the operator to change to multi-source

• Support added for the NAC-D autopilot computer (replacement for SG05)• Support for very old radars has been removed: The Simrad radar range has advanced over the last

10 years making it very hard to support very old obsolete radars. The following radars will no longer work with this software version.

– (AA010012) 2kW HD Radar Processor– (AA010013) 4kW HD Radar Processor– (AA010014) 6kW HD Radar Processor– (AA010015) 10kW HD Radar Processor– (AA010016) 25kW HD Radar Processor

Note the 6kW (000-12591-001), 10kW (000-12592-001), and 25 kW (000-12593-001) HD Radar processor boxes are not affected and continue to have support .– BR24 Broadband Radar

Known issues (WIP) These may be resolved before release• The upcoming Halo dome software is not compatible with NSS evo2 or older MFDs. Work around:

don’t upgrade radar software above 7.0.2.43, or if radar replaced with factory software > than 7.0.2.43 then downgrade the radar

• NSS NSO evo3/3S running 20.1 or lower radar software greater >7.0.2.43. Editing the guard zones will cause the unit to restart .Work around: Update the NSO/NSS evo3/3S to the latest software

• When updating NSS and NSO evo3S units to this version there will be manual restart required of the MFD after the update has run. This restart is normally automatic but for this release a manual restart is required. Please note if the MFD has the yellow remote power on wire connected the unit will restart automatically.

• The screen below will be displayed prompting the user for action• This does not affect any other Simrad MFDs and future version should not require this step
