Virtual Learning

Technology

• TASD Faculty will utilize the Google Classroom platform.

• Chromebooks are available for each TASD student.

• Due to software constraints, all TASD virtual students must use

a district issued Chromebook.

• Device pickup will be scheduled for 9th, 11th and 12th grade

students. 10th grade students still have their device from last

year.

Technology Support

• Tech Support will be provided for District provided devices.

• Items to check if you are having issues connecting:

• Contact your internet provider to ensure connectivity

• Ensure you have a WIFI signal and connected

• Are you logged into your Tamaqua Area School District Google

• 2020-2021 SCHEDULE (43/41 Minute Periods)

• Period 1 7:33-8:16

• Period 2 8:18-8:59

• Period 3 9:01-9:42

• Period 4 9:44-10:25

• Period 5 10:27-11:08

• Period 6 11:10-11:51

• Period 7 11:53-12:34

• Period 8 12:36-1:17

• Period 9 1:19-2:00

Schedule

• Each student will follow their individual schedule as if they

were attending the building. Ex. 1st Period Math with Mr.

Grabowski will be 1st Period Math with Mr. Grabowski.

• Students need to be online during their instruction time.

Faculty may grant an early logout for individual

practice/homework.

• Lunch and Study Halls will not meet.

Schedule

• Faculty will provide office hours for support.

• Lessons will be synchronous – Real-time.

• Lessons will be saved and posted to Google Classroom for review.

• Video will be limited to the teacher and student.

• If a student cannot attend a particular period, it is the responsibility of the student and parent or guardian to communicate with administration and the classroom teacher.

• Students cannot add or drop classes August 26, 27, 28

• All add/drops will start the week of August 31. A request should be sent to your guidance counselor via the school Gmail. Students will remain in their original class until they receive email confirmation of the approved change. There will be no schedule changes after September 4th.

Grading

• Students will be graded traditionally. Both virtual and non-

virtual students will be graded on a 100-point scale. There

will be four (4) quarters, Midterm and Final exams. All

GPA and Class Rank will continue as they have in the past.

Transition

• If a student wishes to transition from virtual learning to in-

person learning, the student will follow the same schedule.

Communication

• Faculty communication will take place through REMIND,

Google Classroom, and FOCUS (formerly MMS).

• Students will communicate through district assigned Gmail

accounts.

Visitors

• TAHS will be restricting visitors into the buildings.

• All parent/teacher conferences, IEP meetings, principal

conferences and guidance concerns will participate through

virtual meetings.

• Special arrangements will be made for anyone without the

ability to participate virtually.

Internet Option

• Service Electric Cablevision is once again looking for your assistance on passing the word to all of your students and teachers who are in the need of internet for this upcoming school year. SECV is going to again offer the “eLearning promotion” which entails the following:

• 90 days free Internet service to students and teachers who do not already subscribe to SECV Internet. This offer includes the 40M x 4M tier of Internet service, along with a free cable modem rental.

• Self-installation required with the assistance of a technician outside the residence to ensure the safety of our employees. All new customers must provide written proof of their child’s current enrollment at a local school in SECV’s service area. All teachers must reside in SECV’s service area and provide evidence of current employment status. Other restrictions may apply. Notifications

• Building announcements will be communicated through

Google Classroom.

• Building communication with families will be shared

through the REMIND app code (@tamshs) and

OneCallNow.
