In 2012, First Tee-Central Florida formed the  Arnold

Palmer Scholarship Fund through Mr. Palmer's Lead

Gift.  Annual outflows of the endowment will be

used to subsidize participant fees, purchase

equipment, and provide transportation to ensure

that First Tee-Central Florida is able to maintain the

policy that no child ever gets turned away for an

inability to pay.  

Arnold Palmer was the embodiment of the core

values inherent to the game – a man of respect,

integrity and perseverance. He believed, as we do,

those values are essential to young people today.

From co-chairing The First Tee Legacy Society with

fellow Trustee Jack Nicklaus to his work with First

Tee-Pittsburgh and First Tee-Central Florida,

Palmer’s ongoing support helped expand our

positive impact on the lives of young people in a

meaningful way.

Golf is unique from other sports because players

learn values like honesty and responsibility by calling

penalties on themselves and reporting their own

score. The sport is a perfect platform for helping

youth develop character because just like in life,

players experience the highs and lows of the game.

First Tee-Central Florida helps shape the lives of

young people from all walks of life by reinforcing

values like integrity, respect and perseverance

through the game of golf.

And it’s making a difference. Our research-proven

programs are having a positive impact on

participants, their families and our community.

 Annually, First Tee-Central Florida reaches over

93,000 young people through our in-school and

after-school outreach programs and 500 young

people through our Golf and Life Skills Experience

Program at nine local golf courses. First Tee-Central

Florida maintains a policy that no child ever be

turned away for an inability to pay.

Each player will hit a tee shot from the teeingground, then the team members choose the best

of the four shots for the next shot.  All players thenplay the second shot from that location and playtheir own ball until it is holed.  The two best net

scores will count toward the teams score.
