WelcOME The year 2020 has brought many changes in the lead up to the camp season. The world is currently in a unique situation and we at Lincoln Summer Camp are thinking about how to accommodate the present needs of the camp community. On June 16th we presented a plan to the community to run a modified, traditional camp program that adhered to the guidelines and best practices set out by the State. Unfortunately, this new model did not garner enough interest from the community for us to run it. Therefore we are switching gears again, and have created a new set of programs that we hope keep camp alive and bring people together even in this trying time.

Each week we will hold a set of CampTivities that offer traditional camp programs for either individual campers or families to sign up and attend.

We truly hope that these shorter programs allow everyone to get a taste of camp and get them excited for what we hope to be a full return to camp as we know it in 2021!

For the most up to date information about camp please visit our website and blog at www.lincolnsummercamp.com.

Overview of Camptivities This year in lieu of a traditional summer camp we will be offering weekly CampTivities that you can sign your camper or entire family up for!

Each day of the week we will offer a different type of activity. On the schedules below if you see a grade level block it means it is an activity you can drop your camper off for and pick them up after. If it is a family activity you can sign up and bring your whole family down.

At grade level events, social distancing will be practiced. This means all participants/campers will be 6ft apart and will have to wear masks any time 6ft of distance cannot be maintained. Typically this will just be when entering and leaving the program.

At family events, your family unit will maintain social distance from other families, but of course do not have to be socially distant from one another. Some events are also single family events, meaning your family can show up for unrestricted fun! Social distancing notes particular to activities are listed below.

We've designed the schedule to compliment our Codman Pool hours, so your family can sign up for many activities before or after a dip in the pool!

Please note these activities will run following the Outdoor Adult Sports, Supervised Youth Sports Leagues, Summer Sports Camps guidelines and the Parks, Open Space, and Outdoor Education Programs guidelines developed and released by the state of Massachusetts.

Check out our weekly offerings below:

CAMPTIVITY DESCRIPTIONS Week of July 6th

Monday, July 6th - Egg Drop and Submarine Competition Come join in on a mission to keep an egg ‘person’ and a cotton swab ‘person’ safe from peril! Campers and families will work to design and construct a protective container to keep an egg from cracking when dropped from a great height. They will then move onto designing a submarine that will protect their cotton swab and test it in deep water. Participants will compete against each other to see who can pass these tests and keep their ‘people’ safe!  Notes about social distancing: Each individual or group of participants will be given their own materials to construct their devices and sit at socially distant tables.

Tuesday, July 7th - Mini Color War Our traditional color war competition gets a new twist this summer in a mini version. With your family or some peers, join us for some friendly competition as we race through some favorites like the sponge and broken cup relay. Test your strength in a tug-of-war competition and your endurance in an obstacle course. Work with your teammates during a water balloon toss and cheer them on in an egg spoon race. Mini-Color-War-Champions will be named throughout the day!  A note about social distancing: Individual markers and lanes will be set up to space out different families and individuals during all competitions. Participants will have their own supplies.

HEALTH CARE POLICIES AND MEDICATIONS Emergency Procedures • If a child is in need of immediate advanced medical attention, staff will administer first aid,

contact a Camp Director and/or Parks and Recreation Department Director, and contact Emergency Medical Services.

• If the parent(s) cannot be reached, we will try the emergency contact. If no one can be reached and the child needs to be transported to the hospital, a staff member will accompany the child to the hospital while the camp continues trying both parents and emergency contact.

• To help prevent accidents, staff members check the campus daily for hazards. If any hazards are identified, the area is marked-off and reported to the Camp Directors. If the Directors cannot fix the hazard, it is reported to the School Maintenance Coordinator and Parks and Recreation Director.

• Staff will inform parents if their child receives a minor injury. Minor injuries are entered into our logbook, and parents receive a verbal report on the incident. All major injuries are documented on the injury report form and placed in the child’s file as well as a copy given to the parent. If the injury is related to the condition of the school grounds, a written report is also given to the School Business Manager.

Allergies • If your child has an allergy please indicate it during registration. Children are kept away from any

situations that might aggravate their condition. Medication is given as prescribed by physician and parent.

Illness and COVID-19 Protocols • All families will be notified in writing if a participant has any contagious or reportable disease. • All staff will be trained to recognize the possible symptoms of COVID-19. If a participant displays

any signs of possible symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath, gastrointestinal symptoms, new loss of taste/smell, muscle aches, or any other symptoms that feel like a cold during the camp activity, they will immediately be removed from the group, given any necessary personal protective equipment (i.e. a face covering). If the participant is an adult, they will be asked to leave and contact their health care provider. If the participant is an unaccompanied minor, they will be brought to the identified isolation area in Hartwell B-Pod. In the event a second isolation space is needed, that will be located in the back of the small activity room on the north end of Hartwell A-Pod. The Camp Directors will attempt to contact all listed Emergency Contacts for the participant if the parent/guardian cannot be reached first. If, in case that a parent/guardian is unable to come pick up their child, Lincoln EMS will be contacted for transportation to Emerson Hospital.

• A participant must be temperature free (without the use of fever reducing medicine) and free of symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, gastrointestinal symptoms, new loss of taste/smell, muscle aches, or any other symptoms that feel like a cold) for 72 hours before they can attend an activity. This must be at least 10 days after the first sign of symptoms. They must also provide documentation from their health care provider that the participant is ready to attend an activity.

• The Park and Recreation Director or the Camp Directors will notify the Health Care Consultant and the local Board of Health about any possible COVID-Suspect cases for guidance on exposure risks and safety of the rest of the camp.

• If a participant or staff becomes COVID-positive, the Board of Health, Health Care Consultant, all staff, and all families will be notified in writing immediately by the Park and Recreation Director or the Camp Directors. The Parks and Recreation Department and the Camp Directors, in coordination with the local Board of Health and Health Care Consultant, will develop a plan for moving forward that will be communicated via email.

Cleaning and Disinfecting Cleaning will take place frequently throughout every day of camp programming.

A professional cleaning company has been hired to routinely clean the bathrooms and all surfaces and frequently touched objects within indoor facilities. This includes but is not limited to doorknobs/ handles, sinks, keyboards, and floors. The cleaners will be cleaning Hartwell A-Pod, Hartwell B-Pod, Hartwell C-Pod, and port-a-potty facilities nightly. In addition, the professional cleaning company will be cleaning the designated isolation space for COVID-suspect campers.

Camp staff and Health care supervisors will be cleaning surfaces in between every activity in camp and disinfecting any supplies used throughout events. Staff are given a 15 minute period between each group of campers to disinfect all equipment used throughout their activity before the next group arrives. This includes but is not limited to larger items such as tables and chairs, balls, hula-hoops, jump ropes, water blasters, buckets, etc and smaller items such as cups, paintbrushes, trays, etc. These blocks of time without participants give staff adequate time outdoors to clean used objects with a soap/water solution then an EPA-registered disinfectant (or a bleach solution made in the last 24 hours) and adequate time for them to air dry completely without wiping before the next group of participants arrives.

The EPA-registered disinfectants and sanitizers will be stored in a locked cabinet and kept in their original containers away from participants at all times.
