“Give what you have. To someone it may be better than you dare to think.”

(Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, American Writer and Poet)

“Generosity during life is a very different thing from generosity in the hour of death;

one proceeds from genuine liberality and benevolence, the other from pride and fear.”

(Horace Mann, American Educator and Politician)

“Our culture values the size of the gift, but God values the size of what we keep.”

(Ed Owens, Chicago Fund Manager)

The Seven Keys to Living a Generous Open-Handed Life . . . SUBMIT yourself and all you have to the Lord. STUDY the Scriptures on finances and generosity. SEE what God has provided in your life. SET ASIDE resources to give. SYSTEMATICALLY give. SPONTANEOUSLY give as the Lord leads you. SIMPLIFY your life to be even more generous.

For the safety and security of

everyone, your backpack or bag may be

inspected. Thanks for your cooperation!

Help FBC Meet Its Budget

We appreciate your faithful giving to FBC and its ministries.

God is doing many good things at our church. Pray for the economy in America.

We need $25,227.00 each week to meet our budget.

Worship Service Tech Workers Needed

Due to moves and health issues we are in serious need of new Tech Workers to run our

Sound, Lighting, Media and Camera Stations for all three morning services, as well as our evening service. If you have a desire to serve our Lord Jesus in these areas, we need you greatly. Our worship services cannot happen without dedicated volunteers to serve these vital tech positions. We will train you on whichever tech station you would like to serve. Please contact Pastor Roger Ball at 602-402-5309 or email him at [email protected] or Julie Huver at [email protected].

Northern Ireland CIY (Christ in Youth)

Engage Mission Trip 2020

Kayleigh Hulbert and Cassidy Britt have been accepted by CIY (Christ in Youth) to participate

in 2020 Mission Trip from June 23 – July 6, 2020, to Northern Ireland.

This trip will consist of young people from all over America meeting up to go to Northern Ireland to serve the Lord by volunteering at the Summer Madness Festival. This is a huge gathering of youth from all over Northern Ireland who worship and learn together. Kayleigh and Cassidy will be on the event crew service team to help the festival flow smoothly.

After five days of the festival they will be sent out with people who attended the festival to participate in Street Reach where they will engage in service experiences in a variety of ways (i.e., street clean-up, possible kids camps, gardening and yard work, etc.).

The cost for this trip includes the CIY cost of $1,750.00 and the cost for airfare of $939.00. The total for this trip for each of the girls is $2,689.00. If you would like to donate to make this trip possible for Kayleigh and Cassidy, you can do so through Christ in Youth Managed Missions or through FBC by indicating on your giving envelope or your online giving “CIY Mission Trip.”

Kayleigh and Cassidy are thankful for this opportunity they have been given and looking forward to growing in their faith and serving the Lord.

Wisdom for our Church Preservation Planning

The Deacon Board unanimously

recommends to the FBC-Tempe congregation:

The FBC-Tempe Deacon Board seeks approval from the FBC-Tempe congregation on Sunday, March 22 (by voting ballot), to approve that the Deacon Board, Finance Committee and Church Staff enter a “due diligence consulting phase” to further explore the many aspects related to Church Preservation Planning “CPP”.

1. This “due diligence consulting phase” is with Attorney Robert Brown from the Church and Ministry Law Group at Schmitt Schneck Casey Even & Williams Law Firm.

2. A “Yes” vote by the FBC-Tempe congregation gives permission for education, discovery and evaluation of the legal aspects and related recommendations to CPP not the implementation of CPP.

3. After the “due diligence consulting phase” has been concluded if the CPP is acceptable to the Deacon Board the next step is a required second vote, in the future, for the consideration by the FBC-Tempe congregation to legally implement CPP.

4. All expenses related to the discovery and implementation of CPP will be paid for by a private family in the church as a designated donation not through the General Fund budget. No conflict of interest exists related to this designated donation.

If you have any questions or wisdom related to CPP please feel free to contact Pastor Roger or any member of the Deacon Board or Finance Committee.

Deacon Board Members are: Scott Blum, Robin Shakal, James Dorsett, Tom Barnhart, Reisenauer, Jim Farrington, Josiah Bender, Adam Bachman, Aaron Will, David Brinn, Rafael Salgado, Les Kinney, Jimmy Gradis, and Mark Bernier

Finance Committee Members are: Dale Zobel, Tom Barnhart, Gary Maack, Teri Shakal, Sandra Clavell, Don Halver, Deeann Griebel, Kent Reisenauer and Rassamy Keoduangta

“Faith in Jesus Fickled”

February 23, 2020 Dr. Roger Ball

[email protected] Based on John chapters 1-4 can you identify where Jesus was (is) respected and NOT respected? Where was (is) Jesus greeted-accepted? Rejected- dishonored? What lessons do we learn from this? Identify the places Jesus was accepted and rejected.

John 4:40 - So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. John 4:41 - Many more believed because of His word; John 4:42 - and they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.”

John 4:43 - After the two days He went forth from there into Galilee.

John 4:44 - For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.

No honor for Jesus where? ________________________

Why does Jesus skip his home town of Nazareth?

John 4:45 - So when He came to Galilee, the Galileans received Him, having seen all the things that He did in Jerusalem at the feast; for they themselves also went to the feast.

Now to _______________but not __________________.

John 4:46 - Therefore He came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine. And there was a royal official whose son was sick at Capernaum.

What was the first miracle?

Why skip Nazareth?

John 4:47 - When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and was imploring Him to come down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.

Sick at ___________________. How far away?

John 4:48 - So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe.”

No miracles no _________________________.

John 4:49 - The royal official said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”

John 4:50 - Jesus said to him, “Go; your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started off.

Did Jesus leave with the father?

John 4:51 - As he was now going down, his slaves met him, saying that his son was living.

John 4:52 - So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. Then they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.”

John 4:53 - So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives”; and he himself believed and his whole household.

John 4:54 - This is again a second sign that Jesus performed when He had come out of Judea into Galilee.
