    1. On this past December 21, did you look at the sky and observe the brightness caused by the alignment of Saturn and Jupiter? Or were you able to find photos of it? What did you think and imagine in your heart?

    2. What star have you followed that led you to discover the “Holy”? Have you seen (felt) the light of Christ; are you following that light - that star? Are you bringing the light you have in your heart to others and sharing it with them?

    3. The gifts/treasures of magi were meant for a king. What material or spiritual gifts/treasures are you being called to place at the service of Christ? What gifts can you bring to church? And what gifts can you bring and give to others?

    Isaiah 60:1-6 | Ephesians 3:2-3, 5-6 | Matthew 2:1-12

    Gospel

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and

have come to do him homage.”

When King Herod heard this, he was greatly troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Assembling all the chief priests and the scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.

They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it has been written through the prophet: And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; since from you shall come a ruler, who is to shepherd my people Israel.”

Then Herod called the magi secretly and ascertained from them the time of the star's appearance. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search diligently for the child. When you have found him, bring me word, that I too may go and do him homage.”

After their audience with the king they set out. And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated

    4. After your own Epiphany and experiencing the light of Christ, have you returned home by taking a different route? In other words, have you found a new way to continue your journey?

    5. What was the most satisfying and rewarding gift you gave this Christmas? What made it special?

On behalf of Fr. Rafal, Fr. Dominik, clergy, staff, and parishioners of St. Mark, a huge

“Thank You!” to all those who worked long and hard to make our

Christmas and New Year’s liturgies so beautiful.

With all of this year’s COVID-19 challenges, our liturgies were extra-special to so many this year, and while many could not attend in person, they were able to participate from the safety of their own homes. We would like to acknowledge all the decorators who worked days bedecking our church and narthex; our choir, whose beautiful music

enhanced each service; the altar servers, extraordinary ministers, livestream and sound teams, readers, sacristans, ushers, and the St. Mark maintenance staff who worked diligently to keep our environment safe.

Our very grateful appreciation to each of you for giving of your time and talents to make Christmas at St. Mark so very special.

PrayersFor our church fam i ly

Traditionally, the Feast of the Epiphany is the day to bless our homes. It is also a common custom to make a marking above the entrance of your home. This year the marking is:

    20+C+M+B+21

The numbers represent the year, and the letters represent the Magi: Caspar, Melchior and Balthassar. Since it is impossible in most parishes for the priest to visit and bless each home of the parish on this day, families can bless their own homes. The following prayer could be read as a blessing:

May we who live in this home guard the sacredness of this threshold. May God protect all who enter and leave from this doorway. May we welcome all at this door in the Name of Jesus Christ, and grace rest upon all who shall cross it.

Pick up your “Blessing of the Home” packet after Mass this weekend. For a more formal blessing, visit the USCCB website at https://tin url.com/2021Epiphan .
