● Civics In Action ○ Grades: 10, 11 & 12 ○ Prerequisite: None ○ Description: Do you want to make your community, state and nation a better

place? In this course, you will learn the skills required to engage with local, state and national government to solve real problems facing our friends, neighbors and fellow citizens. Students will learn how to negotiate and mediate conflicts, write and pass laws, act as attorney in a court trial, develop advanced communication and media skills, and discover how to become a powerful agent for change in our community. This dynamic, hands-on learning experience will benefit from guest speakers and practitioners from Ewing Township and New Jersey state government.

How Do I Know If I am Eligible to Take a Higher Level Course ?

● If you want to request an Honors Level Course, you must earn an 85 or higher in the previous College & Career Prep Level Course. Prerequisites for AP Level Courses can be found in the Course Catalog.

MathematicsIt is important to note that the following College and Career Prep Level Math Courses are Full Year Courses, meaning that you will take them for both Semester 1 & Semester 2:

● Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II

Semester long math courses include:

● College & Career Prep Level Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Probability & Statistics● Honors Level Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus● Advanced Placement Calculus AB, Calculus BC* and Statistics

* Please note, students must earn a 70 or higher in AP Calculus AB in order to take AP Calculus BC

Elective CoursesWhen choosing Elective Courses, it is important to consider which classes will help you to meet the Graduation Requirements and which classes will support your plans after High School.

-To fulfill graduation requirements, you will need to take 1 Financial Literacy Course, 1 Visual or Performing Arts Course, 1 Course in a World Language*, and 1 Career Education Course

-Core Electives include additional classes beyond the required courses in Math, Science, Social Studies & English

* It is recommended that College Bound Students take 2-3 courses in the same World Language

How to Request Courses for the 2021-22 School Year:

1. Visit your Counselor’s Google Classroom*

2. Select the Classwork tab3. Open the “Course Selection”

Assignment4. Click on the link titled “Course

Selection Form”5. Fill in the PDF with your course

requests and SAVE the document to your computer/Google Drive/device

6. Upload your saved form into Google Classroom under the “Course Selection” Assignment

*If you do not have access to your Counselor’s Google Classroom, please email your Counselor
