I hope this newsletter finds all of you doing well and warming up a bit. The week of February 15th was a nasty and cold one. This was one of the worst weeks I can remember in a very long time. It seemed like everywhere we ran all over the nation was affected by bad weather and we experienced several road closures or delays. I want to thank all of you for your commitment to safety. Thankfully, we had no serious incidents or accidents during this winter storm. We had two accidents of which neither was our fault and most importantly no one was hurt. I also want to thank Steve and Clint in the Safety Department for the extra details they sent out in the safety messages and information regarding road conditions and areas that were highly effected. Except for last week, our freight volumes and load counts have been very good. Our customers have been busy, the economy seems to be strong, and the forecast for the first half of 2021 is good.

We have begun to receive our new tractors and trailers for 2021 and will continue to do so over the course of the year. Coming in the next month or so we will see a change in the T680 Kenworth that we run. They have made some cool changes to the trucks, many of them being related to aerodynamics and some of the interior of the cab. I was fortunate enough to be able to watch a Virtual unveiling of the new T680 earlier in the month and I look forward to receiving some of these soon. We have received the first fifteen of the one hundred Wabash Trailers for the year as well. In closing I want to thank all of you that reached out in any way during the passing of my Dad. The phone calls, text message, emails, cards etc., were overwhelming and very comforting. The passing of my Dad just went to show me how precious life is and how quickly it can change. On New Year’s Eve I spoke with my Dad and we were laughing and joking around, the next day he was admitted into the hospital, and in less than two weeks, he was gone. The nice thing is that my Dad and I were in a good place in our relationship, there were no words left unsaid and we each knew that we loved one another. If you still have your parents, please cherish every moment you have, do not hesitate to stop in and make that visit, or pick up the phone to just say hello. I did all of that with my Dad often, but now wish I would have done it even more. As all of you know my parents started DHT in 1964 with an old 1946 Kenworth and, with their hard work and vision, they got it off the ground and headed to where it is today. My Mom and Dad have created a legacy that we wish to carry on for years to come and, because of all the great folks that we are blessed to have here in our DHT Family, we fully intend to carry it on for years to come. Until next time please stay safe out there on the road. I appreciate everything all of you do and may God bless all of you in all your travels! Keep on Trucking Safely! Joe

CONTENTSAs we move into 2021, freight volumes have been strong in all areas of the country. After 2020, I know we all hoped for a return to normalcy and we will eventually get there but not without a few more surprises. The third week of February proved that things other than COVID-19 can upset the country. Never have I seen such a large section of the country entrenched in ice. We experienced major delay’s and complete shutdowns of our customers and many of you on the road were simply stuck where you were for multiple days. I am thankful that DHT survived this without any major accidents and all our drivers remained safe. The month of March should be an outstanding month as the storm further backed up supply chains. I encourage everyone who can to take advantage of the robust times we expect to see in

the months to come. As we move hopefully towards the light at the end of the tunnel concerning COVID, I want to remember the DHT family members that have been impacted by this terrible health crisis. I am certain we have all known others who have contracted this virus and some of us even know folks that were not lucky enough to make it through. It has gone on for so long that it can almost feel normal to hear of health issues and death related to this, but I hope we can all pause and remember those who were touched closely. DHT was not spared of the heartbreak of losing members of our family and my prayer is that everyone can heal and move forward. For those of us that remain, let’s support each other and remember those that were not as lucky. As always, I appreciate the dedication and sacrifice so many have made to keep our country going during the last year. God bless each of you. Blake

Come On Spring

January / February 2021

Hello, all DHT drivers, I hope this newsletter find you and your family well. I would say we have just experienced one of the worst winters we have seen in a while. The weather channel reported that last week 73.2% of the country was snow covered. Wow, I do not know

that I have ever seen that before. There was snow and black ice as far down as Laredo with winter storm warnings and very cold temps as far down as Brownsville, TX. It took a toll us and the entire transportation industry. Regarding the winter storms last week, I did want to say THANK YOU to all our DHT drivers. You all did a fantastic job and stopped when the roads got bad. As a result, we had very little problems other than a few trucks got stuck on ice or snow mostly in parking lots and had to get a wrecker to get pulled out. As all of you know we do not want you on bad roads, heavy snow or ice. We want you safely parked and out of harm’s way. As we always say, we do not haul anything worth you or anyone you share the road with getting hurt. Period. Again, thank all of you for a great job and safe week during this last winter storm event. I know a lot of you were picking up the Driver CDs at the terminals every other month when they came out. Those will no longer be available; the new trucks we are getting do not have CD players in them. They will only have USB ports. As a result, the Drivers CD will now be available on the DHT APP. When you sign in simply click on Links and there you will see where you can stream the recordings to your phone. Remember, you will need to have good Wi-Fi signal so that you are not charged for Data while listening to the CD, if you don’t have unlimited data. We are working on being able to download it from the APP. Our I.T. Department is working diligently on making this happen. A fleet message will be put out when the recordings are available so you will know to look for it in the APP.

I know since the last November election, a lot of states have legalized marijuana for medical and recreational use; however, the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations have not changed any laws regarding marijuana use and/or possession. It is still ILLEGAL. You also need to be aware of the new trend of CBD Oil. Most of the time it still contains THC which will kick a positive drug test for marijuana. If that happens, the MRO (Medical Review Officer) will have no choice but to turn it into the Federal Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse. You will be disqualified from driving a CMV and would be required to complete substance abuse counseling before being reinstated and able to apply for another driving position. I would strongly suggest everyone stay away from using CBD Oil, after all, it is your career that you would be jeopardizing. I would also like to remind everyone that alcohol is not permitted to be in any CMV unless it is on a manifest. You cannot carry, transport or in any way be in possession or under the influence of alcohol while in a CMV. This would include any time that you are off duty while in the possession of the truck. If you want to drink, you must do it while on home time only, and must not drink or be under the influence for a minimum of 4 hours prior to duty. If you have any questions about the Drug or Alcohol Regulations, please contact me or Clint so that we can go over it with you. The regulations are also covered in part 382 and part 40 of the FMCSR’s (your green DOT book). Until we see you again, thank you for what you do and drive safe! Steve E Frantz VP of Safety

CBD Oil (Cannabidoil)The federal rule is quite specific (49 CFR Part 40.151) the medical review is not permitted to "accept an assertion of consumption or other use of hemp or other nonprescription marijuana related products as a basis of verifying a marijuana test negative."

Employees/ applicants who test positive for THC will be in violation of the employer's policy; regardless of it sourcing.

CBD oil extracted from marijuana is receiving lots of attention lately as the cure all for an array of ailments, illnesses and pain. Further claims are made that the THC is removed and entirely safe.

All the claims that THC has been extracted from products such as hemp, CBD oil, Cannabis vapor oils, etc. should not be given credibility nor create a false sense of security to the user. There is no definite scientific proven method of extraction of all THC.

Manufacturers claims stipulating that all THC is removed, or the THC level is so low the user will not test positive are not proven.

Currently there are law suits against the cannabis product manufacturers resulting from purchasers of these products that have tested positive in workplace testing scenarios. They lost their jobs.

In summary, employees are responsible for what they ingest, apply topically and the environments that they cohabitate.

It is with strong emphasis that employees abstain from the use of any cannabis product as it could result in a positive substance abuse test and employment termination or rescinding of a job offer.

The Year is Looking GoodHello drivers. I hope everyone’s year has gotten off to a good start. As of my writing this article, we have just experienced a massive winter storm that affected many areas, especially the state of Texas. Thankfully, we had no major incidents

during this time and it is my hope that it will be a long time before we go through another weather event of that magnitude. As always, your safety is our number one priority so, at any point you feel it is unsafe to roll, find a safe location to park and notify Dispatch so that we can keep our customers updated. Freight has been exceptionally strong to begin the year and, at this time, shows little signs of slowing down. In my 20+ years in the business, I can’t remember another time that we were this busy in all of our regular shipping lanes as it seems there would always be at least one or two slow areas in the past. With this being stated, many drivers have been running low on available hours since there normally isn’t much idle time

between loads. As always, we ask that if you are not going to be able to meet your given ETA, or delivery appointment, for any reason, let us know as quickly as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements with our customers. As an update, we are currently in the process of replacing all our 2011 model trailers and most of our 2012 models with new 2022 model Wabash air-ride trailers. This will be happening throughout the year along with adding 30 additional new trailers to our fleet. Lastly, I’d like to remind everyone to always place trash in the appropriate containers at our terminals and customer locations. It’s important that all trucks be kept clean inside, but we’ve had increasing reports of trash being thrown on the ground instead of being placed in our trash cans or dumpsters. I do appreciate everyone helping with this as we want to keep the grounds clean and professional. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication. We really do appreciate all that you do. God Bless. January / February 2021

Hello Drivers, I hope you and your families are all healthy and doing well. We had a rough February with the winter storm that

pretty much blanketed our entire running lanes. I know I’m looking forward to Spring, and I expect most of you are looking forward to the warmer weather that it brings. With warmer weather just around the corner, and you are probably already seeing warmer temperatures in the West and Southwest, we need to make sure we have the truck and APU A/C ready and functioning properly. Please test them and make sure they are working correctly. If not, please let us know so we can get them addressed and working properly before the hot weather gets here.

We need to keep doing good Pre-trips, In-route, and Post-trip Inspections every day. Please keep a good eye on your tires and make sure they are at the correct “cold” air pressure. Steer tires should be at 110psi, Drives and Trailer tires should be at 100psi. Tires are the most common failure on the road. We would rather replace a questionable tire in our shop, than out on the road. Please remember to send a Macro 39 with any breakdown and we also need you to send a picture of the DOT number of the failed tire to [email protected]. We have Warranty on all tires, even the recaps, but we need the DOT number to file for that warranty. Also, with it getting hotter, please make sure you pick up some extra coolant and oil at one of the shops. When checking your coolant level, we have found filling it about 1 inch

above the Cold Full mark works best. When the coolant level gets just below the full mark, it will start giving check engine lights and shut down mode will be soon after that. Please make sure when adding coolant to remove the Cap SLOWLY to relieve pressure so it doesn’t spray out on you. It is also a good idea to wear gloves and safety glasses, so you don’t get burned or get anything in your eyes. If you need to add coolant, and you are unsure how to do so safely, please give us a call in Maintenance. As always, thank you all for pounding that asphalt every day and for doing so with DHT on your door. God Bless and truck safe! Carey Pritt,Director of Maintenance

Warmer Weather Just Around the Corner

January / February 2021

Hello Drivers, hopefully by now we are past the cold, ice and snow and the warm weather will settle in. As temperatures start to rise it is time to check on the A/C system to see if it is working correctly for the summer months that are just around the

corner. The APU A/C may need to be serviced and the filters cleaned or replaced so they cool efficiently. Should they need service, or are not working properly, please get with Maintenance so we can get you to a terminal before the heat of summer arrives.

Warmer weather will mean you should take a little more time on your Pre-trip and Post-trip Inspections looking at the tires, making sure they are at the correct pressure, free of nails and cuts. Have your spare oil and coolant jugs filled as well when you are at a terminal. If you have any Maintenance concerns, feel free to give us a call anytime. May God bless you and your families and keep everyone safe. Thank You,Scott Wemhoff,Director of Maintenance

Many families have been affected in some way or another due to this awful Pandemic of COVID-19! There is no rhyme or reason to loss, there are no limitations, there are no magic remedies, we don’t know who will suffer worse with it, nor who will recover. DHT lost our Founder, Mr. Danny Herman, we lost drivers, we lost family members,

friends, neighbors and business associates. How do we recover? What gets us through? How do we press toward the mark of 2021?

For now, let us remember what we carry on our trailers! At no other time in our history can these Words of encouragement mean more and help us more than right now.

So remember with us, that LOVE, HOPE, FAITH and TRUST can carry us through this life that COVID-19 has left us. Pray for each other, lift each other up in thoughts of

positivity! Together, with God as our helper, we can face what tomorrow holds.

Your DHT Family

We always look for Danny Herman trucks as we travel. It is so encouraging to see the scriptures on the trailers. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus extended to a nation of travelers. May God bless each person involved with your company and their families — MORE! Max and Cindy Gilbert

It was so refreshing to see one of your trucks today on my way home from a weekend getaway. In today’s world of such division, it was nice to see the simple reminder to keep our faith but more importantly to plant that seed to the unbelievers. Thank you for being obedient to serve God.
