NEW SCANDINAVIA CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES FEBRUARY 9, 2021

Pending Approval

Meeting was called to order 6:30 pm by Rick Broten. Devotions was led by Vicar Lucy on

Philippians 4 Joy.

Secretaries Report: Was read with no corrections.

Treasurer’s Report: Was read and filed for audit.

Vicars’ Report

Attended Winterfield Theological Convention via Zoom

Doing visitations as allowed.

Lenten video 24 hours that Changed the World.

Deacon’s Report: None

Trustee’s Report: Tom is working on burning the brush pile.

Reports of Visitors/Non-Council Members: None

Children Youth and Family: Board of Ed continue to do online Sunday school. We will be starting the

bible study the last 24 hours tying it in with Wednesday lent services and worship service along with

Sunday school. Will talk with Vicar Lucy regarding first communion classes.

Old Business: None

New Business:

A M/S/C (Dawn/Jeff) that the Noisy Offering for February and March will go towards the Barron Food

Pantry.

A M/S/C (Jeff/Rob) to have Church and Sunday School services starting March 4th.

A M/S/C (Tom/Dawn) to allow Rhonda access to online banking to view statements and Dave D to

authorize Rhonda payroll funds for direct deposit.

CONFIRMATION UPDATE

JOINT CONFIRMATION & NS SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS:

I will continue to have the Sunday School lessons posted on New Scandinavia Lutheran Church Group

Facebook page. Follow our Facebook page for up to-date information. On Ash Wednesday we began

an intergenerational educational series 24 Hours that Changed the World, pastor and popular author

Adam Hamilton helps us experience and understand the significance of Jesus' final hours. Videos will

be shown on Wednesday and then the lessons each Sunday. For more information on this series see

Vicar Lucy’s notes about it in this newsletter.

We will be having First Communion Classes coming up for those in 4th Grade, 5th Grade and up. We

have Xander Rihn and Reagan Duncan listed as candidates. If there are any other interested candidates

in 4th Grade, 5th Grade and up please let Vicar Lucy know at the Church Office 715-837-1795 to get on the

mailing list. First Communion Classes will be in March on Saturday, March 20 and Rite of First

Communion will be on Palm Sunday.

Students are encouraged to attend worship on Wednesday nights (via Facebook or Zoom) instead of

attending class. We will resume class on April 7th and our last class will be April 28th.

As always for some options to work on while you are home – Pre K and K: 2 or 3 table prayers and or

bedtime prayer, The Lord’s Prayer and church manners. 1st and 2nd Grade: The Lord’s Prayer,

Apostle’s Creed and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd The Commandments. 3rd and 4th Grade: The Lord’s Prayer,

The Apostle’s Creed, The Commandments 1-10, Bible usage (looking up verses). 5th and 6th Grade:

The Lord’s Prayer, The Apostle’s Creed, The Commandments 1-10, Psalm 23, John 3:16, Matthew 22:37-

39, John 14:6, Matthew 7:7, Matthew 7:12, The Beatitudes Matthew 5:3-12, Isaiah 40:3,5, Matthew 7:1-2,

Matthew 5:43-44, 1 John 1:7, Matthew 28:19-20. 7th and 8th Grade: The Lord’s Prayer, The Apostle’s

Creed, The Commandments 1-10, Psalm 23, The Beatitudes Matthew 5:3-12, Ephesians 2:8-9, Matthew

18:20, John 11:25-26, Matthew 25:40, Matthew 6:19-21, Mark 9:23b, Psalm 100, Roman 3:28, John 8:31b,

32, 1 Corinthians 10:13, John 20:23 and Matthew 18:18. High School: Be a leader and good role model,

open your Bible and devotion books 3-4 times a week or daily;), read any of the above Bible verses, The

Lord’s Prayer, The Apostle’s Creed, The Commandments 1-10, Psalm 23.

Make homemade cards for our shut-in members. Smile often and sing – we will get through this “rough

patch” with God’s guidance and love. Hugs to you all!
