Helping Keep St Albans Sustainable
With energy costs continuing to rise, sustainability makes sense. As a family run company, we share your concern about the environment, but we also know that in today's climate, sustainability must add up. We believe sustainable living should be accessible, relatable and down to earth. It should be good for the planet and good for your wallet.
We are for sustainable living. From solar pv to new, energy efficient boiler installations – visit us at www.justenergysolutions.com and explore for yourself.
#SustWeek18
Community Sponsor ofSustainable St Albans Week
Welcome to the third year of SuStAinable StAlbans Week: 21 – 29 April 2018. This award-winning week showcases the fantastic people and projects helping to create a more environmentally sustainable future across St Albans, Harpenden and the villages.
We have an exciting programme of 100+ events and activities – all organised by local community groups, businesses, schools and faith groups.
Most events are completely free. Have fun, do something practical, learn something new. Exchange ideas, make fresh connections.
There’s so much choice on offer! Visit an allotment site, take children on a nature safari, or see an environmental film. Hear a former Transport Minister on the revolution in transport systems, get a discount on reusable coffee cups or win prizes for shopping local. Where else can you choose between vegan cooking, getting your kettle repaired, discussing sustainable housing, and refreshing your wardrobe with a swishing session?!
Bring the kids to HeronWatch or story-telling. Join a family-friendly walk in Sandridge or a community litter pick. Join in with the #plasticfree picnic or let them pick a free book at the Children’s Book Swap.
The Week launches on Sat 21st April with Our Planet – Our Future: an inspiring afternoon of short talks on living sustainably, with art, poetry, and an evening reception with local food and drink.
It wraps up on Sunday 29th April with the Know How Festival – a fun, practical day of skills, like bike repairs and composting, plus info on all sorts of environmental changes you can make. Plus music, kids’ activities, short films and food.
So, open the programme, choose some events and put them in your diary.
SuStAinable StAlbans Week team

The views expressed at these events may not be those of the organisers of SuStAinable StAlbans Week. Resourcing the world
Proud to support Sustainable St Albans WeekVeolia is the UK’s leading resource management specialist, providing waste, water and energy management services that touch over half the UK’s population. Within St Albans City and District we provide recycling, refuse collection and street cleansing services on behalf of St Albans City and District Council.
We are committed to improving the communities in which we operate by creating social value and delivering services that benefit the local and wider environment. This commitment is reflected in Veolia winning the Responsible Business of the Year Award 2016, Business in the Community’s flagship award. The award recognises Veolia’s role in transforming itself into a resource management company that is committed to the circular economy and is aimed at businesses that are creating long-term sustainable value.
In particular it highlights those who embed a sustainable approach to their core decision making and whose operations support a stronger society.
