(f) Mission Number 1 3 0 - Isesaki: Althougb no flak

defenses had been observed in tbe Isesaki area the only possible radar,approach would bring the aircraft ·within the effective range of the

313 to Maebasbi) uai ng the same approach. however, had encountered only

meager and inaccurate flak. Only meager and inaccurate flak was expected

the Marifu Railroad Yards it was mandatory that an axis be selected that

was at least 20 degrees to the longitudinal ax i.s of the reiIr cad yards.

ApprOXimately 435 aircraft, carrying a gross tonnage of 3050 tons of

bombs, were expected to be airborne for these 3 missions. It was believed

that 2684 tons (88 per cent) of this 'total would be released at the prim-ary targets, 40 per cent of which would fall '7ithin 1000 feet of theaSSigned mean points of impact.
