The Backyard Difference

Take a full-days trek to the summitof Mt. Batukaru.

Day 1: Mount Batukaru ArrivalYour guide will meet you and take you deeponto the slopes of Mount Batukaru.
Your base for this adventure will be thefabulous Sarinbuana Ecolodge, surrounded bytropical plantations. Its handcraftedbungalows are located 750 meters up themountain and give amazing views of its peakand southern Bali.
The lodge has its own organic gardens; andwhen you arrive you will be served lunchprepared with produce from the garden.
Your afternoon is free at leisure. If you wish,you can choose an afternoon class:-Balinese massage-Making Balinese table decorations.-Cooking class-Calligraphy
Dinner at the lodge in the evening.
Overnight at Sarinbuana Ecolodge.
Meals included on this day: Lunch and DinnerDay 2: Mount Batukaru
Rainforest Walk
Today take a three hour trek deep into therainforest with your guide. Pass a host of floraand fauna, including coffee plants, vanilla andtropical fruits. Keep your eyes peeled for thewildlife of the rainforest, which includes crab-eating macaques, porcupines, civet cats andwild deer.
At midday, head back to the lodge for adelicious lunch. The rest of the day is free atleisure.
If you fancy a relaxing massage after yourwalk, one can be arranged.

Day 4: Mount Batukaru-WestCoast Departure
Check out from the lodge after breakfast andbegin a cycling journey from the slopes ofthe Mountain right down to the west coast of
Bali.
Passing rice fields and local villages you willcoast down to the flat lands and finally reachthe black sandy beach.
Once at the beach, relax and enjoy a picniclunch.
Afterwards, you will be transferred byprivate car to the airport or to your hotel.

Day 3: Day Trek to Mt. Batukaru
Ascend stunning Mt. Batukaru today on afull-day trek.
We will head off after breakfast and makeour way under the shade of the rainforestcanopy towards higher ground. The area isfilled with wildlife which your guide will helpyou to discover.
The ecosystem begins to change as youcontinue upwards. Take a picnic lunch by amountain stream before beginning the finalpart of the ascent. The last hour is a littlesteeper, and you should get through the
forest cover and to the summit aroundmidday.
You will be at 2,200 meters now; fromwhere you can take in magnificent,panoramic views of the entire island.
Afterwards, make your way back down,returning to the lodge in the late afternoon.
Note: this is a fairly demanding trek, and is
not recommended for children under 10years old.

Clothing & What to Pack: Comfortable, casual
lightweight clothing in natural fabrics such is
suitable for travelling in Indonesia. During thewinter months, bring warmer clothes if travelling
to higher altitudes. Dress modestly and dont wear
shorts or tank tops when visiting religious
buildings, and shoes should be removed before
entering a private home. Wear a sarong and waist
sashes when visiting temples which are provided.

Climate: Dry from June to September.
Monsoon season from December to March
brings heavy but short downpours. Highland
areas are cooler than the beaches.
Temperatures generally are between 25-30C.
Mobile Phones: 3G and SIM cards are widely
available and an inexpensive way to make
local and international calls. Note high
charges may apply if using roaming services.
Visas: Most visitors to Indonesia need a visato enter the country. Most nationalities can geta visa on arrival at international air andseaports. 2 passport photos are required.
Cuisine: Indonesian food is as diverse as its island
and influenced by its diverse historic trading roots
Try the national dishes Nasi Goreng, Gado-Gado an
Sate, usually served with rice.
Health: Travellers should be inoculated agains
typhoid, cholera, hepatitis A & B, tetanus and polio
Malaria and Dengue Fever are present in Indonesia
and it is advisable to take precautions. It is essentia
to have a good medical insurance that covers the cos
of an evacuation flight.
Tipping: Not expected but always appreciated in
Indonesia, its customary though to tip tour guides
and drivers.
Water: Dont drink tap water and ice cubes shouldnot be consumed in simple street stalls/
restaurants.
Safety: Indonesia is generally a safe country to
visit though never leave your belongings
unattended and beware of touts in tourist areas.
