PARTNERSHIP AND PROFILE BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES AT THE OSV MIDDLE EAST CONFERENCE:

Present a keynote session, launch a product, sponsor a lunch, demonstrate that pioneering technology you have developed – the options are endless. Key decision makers from the Offshore Industry will converge in Dubai to outline new projects, marine support and logistics requirements, and technology expectations. This is your chance to reach out to them!

“In comparison with other events in Europe and North America, there were new faces and the delegates and speakers were more open to new ideas. The event was really focusing on the addressed topics with excellent networking opportunities” STEFAN HADELER, SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER, NAVAL ARCHITECT, VP - PROJECT DESIGN DEPARTMENT, NORDIC YARDS

“Very good and informative” SANDEEP VAIDYA, DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER, FLEET MANAGEMENT, GREAT OFFSHORE LTD

Prospects for the OSV industry in Middle East are bright with strong long-term global oil demand and increasing offshore activity. Coupled with stabilizing crude oil price which is expected to exceed USD 100 per barrel, the market is back on track. But challenges and uncertainties still persist, with an aging fleet, geo-political situation, security and crewing issues that need to be addressed.

Offshore Support Vessels Middle East will bring together the movers, shakers and leaders of the OSV sector of the Arabian Gulf to discuss how to capitalize on opportunities in and outside the region, while overcoming the hurdles which it is currently facing.

Damen Shipyards Group operates more than 38 shipyards and related companies worldwide. Consistent quality and short delivery times, due to standardized designs, modular construction and keeping vessels in stock, are Damen

hallmarks. Proven technology, reliable performance and continuous (scientific) research enable Damen to offer customers innovative vessels with great Total Cost of Ownership.

Damen’s portfolio encompasses various types of tugs, workboats, high-speed craft, fast ferries, and cargo vessels, all of in-house design. In addition to the series-built, standard-type vessels, Damen is active in designing and building specialized workboats and patrol vessels.

Damen offers several supporting services, such as Damen Technical Cooperation (i.e. vessel packages for local building), repair and maintenance services, asset management systems, customer finance and crew training programmes.

The workshop will be focusing on the redundancy concept for the operation of Offshore Vessels. Specifically what an important consideration this should be when looking a vessel design. Although the discussions will be relevant to DP vessels of all class notations, they will look at all vessels whether they are DP or not with regard to their design and in built redundancy concept. i.e. what will be the effect of specific failure with a view to either reducing or eliminating that effect, thus improving the operational safety and reliability of the vessel.

Learning objectives of the workshop:• To enhance the understanding of FMEA and FMECA

processes – derive the benefits with regard to redundant operations

• Provide and understand as to the benefits of having a redundant vessel:- Improvement in operational capability.- Improved safe operation of vessels.- Selling an improved product to the market place

• As part of new build vessel project redundancy should form part of the design solution to be agreed and discussed before a contract is signed.

• Meeting OPCO requirements –more OPCO’s are asking for a redundancy analysis – e.g. FMEA’s are carried out on DP1 vessels.

• Providing improved knowledge of their vessels to operators and operating crew.

This course examines contracts, clauses, catastrophes and laws – some familiar, some quite specialized – that apply in the offshore-support context. All aspects of OSV chartering are considered. Case studies are used throughout the course to provide a lively, practical context for learning the material.

• OSV – Fundamental Chartering Concepts• Key issues in OSV chartering contract negotiation• OSV charterparties and forms• BIMCO Supplytime• Case Studies• Bareboat charter agreement for OSVs• Special Applications

The costs of docking projects could run from hundreds of thousands to more than a million dollars, and vessels being out of service from a few weeks to months, so it is important for ship owners that such projects are managed effectively. Otherwise, docking projects are likely to cost far more than it should and could result in vessels failing to meet charterparty requirements. This workshop will attempt to address this and cover the key issues by offering a very practical advice and guidance on planning, preparation and execution of docking projects. The course will open up discussions on different approaches to docking and improving the integration of the docking process into the management of a vessel’s life cycle.

Learning objectives of the workshop:• Realise the importance of effective dry dock management• Understand the importance of a docking

specification and how to prepare one• Learn how to improve the engagement of ship’s staff• Learn to choose a yard/ repair facility that fits your

needs and be able to evaluate yards Safety Critera in line with laid up local & international rules

• Develop an understanding for practical project management using real-world examples

• Learn how to recognize the bottlenecks in docking projects and what to do about them
