Blessed Sacrament on the last Wednesday of each month at the beginning of Exposition (about 9:30am). There will be special prayer cards at the back of church and also in Holy Family where Exposition is after 12 noon Mass on Saturdays.

Calling all parishioners of
Our Lady & St John’s Church
It may be only May but the Social Committee at
OLSJ are already busy planning events for the
months ahead. This year we have decided to
host an International Harvest Festival again, as
we did 2 years ago. It was a great success, but
takes quite a bit of planning. Although September
is a long way off at the moment, we are asking for
all our International parishioners to get in touch
with us and get involved. We would love to
highlight the diverse cultutre, food , music and
heritage of our Parish. If you would like to join in,
please speak to one of the Social Committee after
Mass. The Social Committee Members include,
Joan Larkin, Bernie Hailwood, Anne Rowlands,
Moira Griffiths-Parr and Victoria Hanlon. The
International Harvest Festival is planned to take
place on Sunday 29th September at 11:15am
Mass at OLSJ.
Congratulations to Jenevieve Light & Joe Whitehead who were married at Our Lady and St John on Saturday, 17th
August 2019. May the Lord bless them and their families, as they begin their new life together.
Baptisms
We warmly welcome the following children, who have been baptised in our Parish during August 2019.
Ava Lyn Williams at OLSJ on 11th August
Harry Lampkin at OLSJ on 11th August
New Fundraising Project
at Holy Family
As you know, a heart attack is something which can
occur at any time and at any age! We have been
discussing for some time the provision of a
Defibrillator for the Church. Grants are available to
us to purchase one, however the conditions placed on
them are quite restrictive for our needs, for example
they would need to be fitted externally to the building
for the wider use of the community. Recently there
have been a number of cases where these have been
stolen, and instead of it being a lifesaving piece of
equipment, in the wrong hands it could be lethal! So,
we have decided to “go it alone” and launch an
appeal to you, our parishioners, in order to purchase
our own equipment, and to receive the necessary
training and accreditation. Cost-wise, we are looking
at between £1500-£2000. Collectors will be available
after every Sunday Mass during September to receive
any donations, large or small. This equipment may
just help to save your life!
Thank you, Rev Jeff

Foodbank News: Thank you for your continuous support and for all the donations received over the summer
holidays. For Harvest this year, we are collecting food that grows or is produced on farms. We would be grateful for donations of the following items:
Tinned Vegetables Tinned Fruit Jam Tinned Tomatoes Tinned Potatoes Instant Mash Cereal UHT Milk Rice Pudding Long Grain Rice
We also constantly need used plastic carrier bags for the food distribution centres (until we can find an affordable eco-friendly alternative, or better still, when food banks are no longer needed). Many thanks for your generous support.
