Dear Parents,

A reminder that all parents should have received a radii survey to complete for Catholic Education Week. These surveys give us a good reflection of how well the school is running in a number of are-as. Our senior class and all staff complete the surveys too. I would like to wish Father Rod a “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” for this Sunday, 26 July 2015. We will hold a special celebration for Father this Friday during the Athletics Carnival.

P&F NEWS Fundraising Levy Proposal Last night we held our information session regarding the proposal to introduce a Fundraising Levy. We had a good turn out of parents and it was great to receive everyone's feedback, opinions and questions. At the conclusion of the session the votes were counted. The results concluded that the school will introduce a Resource Fee of $20 per family per term commencing in 2016. Mr Pollard advised the P&F, that as a result of the fee being intro-duced, the school fees will not increase next year. The results also concluded that this year the Bull Sale Fundraiser will be a Year 5/6 Canberra Trip Fundraiser. More information will be given to the parents at the upcoming meeting. Thank you to those who voted and contributed at the information session. Tuckshop Convenor The P&F would like to take this opportunity to thank Christine Peardon for her contribution to the school community in her capacity as Tuckshop Convener. Chrissy volunteers her time each week to ensure that our children have a delicious and wholesome lunch every Friday. It is with sadness that we farewell Chrissy from this position in our school community. Thank-you Chrissy. This leaves us in the position of calling for nominations for a new Tuckshop convener. Please leave your nominations at the office or email us on [email protected] at your earliest convenience. Upgrading of Oval We have received notification that we have not received the grant to upgrade the school oval which the P&F submitted some months ago. However, we have been informed that there was nothing wrong with the initial submission, they just ran out of money and we are able to re-apply for the grant. The next round of submissions closes in October. We would like to thank Kerry McCarthy for her time and effort spent with the grant submission. The P&F will apply for the grant in the next round of submissions and are focused on proceed-ing with this project. Next P&F Meeting: 6pm Wednesday, 12th August 2015 Please email your agenda items to: [email protected] P&F Executive: Simone Gillam, Lisa Lucas, Ann-Maree Bange, Bec McKenzie

Catholic Education Week

Thank you to all families who have already indicated that they will be joining us

for our school family mass this Sunday the 26th July. The mass will signify the be-

ginning of Catholic Education Week. During this week students will engage in ac-

tivities such as the ‘Five Finger Prayer’.

Prayer is a conversation with God, not a formula. Yet sometimes we might need to

use a “method” to freshen up our prayer time. We can pray the Psalms or other Scriptures (such as The

Lord’s Prayer), or use the ACTS method (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication). I re-

cently came across this “Five-Finger Prayer” to use as a guide when praying for others:

When you fold your hands, the thumb is nearest you. So begin by praying for those closest to you—your loved ones .

The index finger is the pointer. Pray for those who teach—Bible teachers and preach-ers, and those who teach children .

The next finger is the tallest. It reminds you to pray for those in authority over you—national and local leaders, and your supervisor at work .

The fourth finger is usually the weakest. Pray for those who are in trouble or who are suffering .

Then comes your little finger. It reminds you of your smallness in relation to God’s greatness. Ask God to supply your needs .
