1: Construct the frame of the filter according to the dimensions of the wall opening.

2: Construct the wooden panels by cutting out slant pieces of a width of 1/2". Then attach

them to a 3" wide frame.

3: Construct a mirror image of the wooden panel to create the second filter piece.

4: Attach the railing rollers to the filter frame in the wall opening.

5: Insert the wooden panels and glass panels in the railing systems to complete the filter.

(1) 4 CMU blocks are arranged in an “L” shaped

pattern to form a base.

(3) Before the Quikrete hardens, 5 anchor

bolts will be placed into the cores of the CMU.

(2) Quikrete is poured into the CMU cores in

preparation of the anchor bolts.

(5) 2x10 Headers are placed on top of the sill

plate and toenailed down. The headers should be

flush with the side of the sill plate.

(4) A termite shield and sill sealer is rolled onto the

CMU. The 2x6 sill plate is bolted down to the CMU.

The sill plate should be offset 1/2” from the side of

the CMU so that the sheathing will be flush.

(6) 2x6 joists are attached using 2 joist

hangers. A rear header is attached to stabi-

lize the joists.

(7) Attach ¾” OSB Sheathing to Joist System.

(8) Construct the stud wall system. Attach the 2x6

studs to the sole plate according to the location of

the wall opening. Construct the corner system as il-

lustrated in the graphic. Construct the window frame

and attach to the stud wall system.

(9) Attach the sole plate of the stud wall sys-

tem to the floor sheathing.

(10) Attach ½” exterior OSB wall sheathing to the studs.

(11) Attach Tyvek weather barrier to the

exterior OSB wall sheathing.

(12) Attach 2x8 rafter to the double header by cutting a birds

mouth cut into the rafters where needed. Attach the 2x8 frieze

board to the end of rafters. Attach 2x8 lookouts to the rafters

where needed.

(13) Attach the 1x6 tongue and groove soffit boards and

the soffit vent to the underside of the rafters. Attach

3/4” OSB roof sheathing to the top of the rafters.

(14) Attach vinyl panel siding to the exterior

walls, and cover corner with edge trim piece.

(15) Attach 1x10 fascia board to frieze board.

Attach gutter system using gutter spikes and

brackets to the fascia board.

(16) Layer OSB roof sheathing with roofing

felt. Attach composite asphalt shingles to the

OSB roof sheathing through the roofing felt.

(17) Attach 2x4 ceiling joists to the double

header and rafters.

(18) Attach the gypsum board to the in-

terior wall studs and ceiling joists.

Stretch the carpet pad and carpet to the

floor OSB sheathing.

(19) Attach the base board/trim to the

bottom of the interior walls.

(20) Construct wooden frame to

the dimensions of the wall opening

insert into wall opening.

(21) Attach interior filter rail

system to the edge of the wall

opening. Insert glass panels

into railing system.

(22) Attach exterior filter rail

system to the edge of the wall

opening. Insert wooden filter

pieces into the railing system.

(23) Attach 2x4 support post to

the rear corner of the construction.
