     AUTOMATIC ICE & WATER DISPENSER

    Priming the Water SupplySystem

Your refrigerator’s water supply systemincludes several tubing lines, an advancedwater lter, a distribution valve bank, and areserve tank to ensure ample supply to the iceand water dispenser at all times. This systemneeds to be completely lled with water whenrst connected to an external supply line.

To prime the water supply system:

1  Begin lling the tank by pressing andholding a drinking glass against the waterdispenser paddle.

2  Keep the glass in this position until water

comes out of the dispenser. It may takeabout 1½ minutes.

3  Continue dispensing water for about threeminutes to ush the system and plumbingconnections of any impurities (stopping toempty the glass as necessary).

    Ice Maker Operation & Care

The ice maker, ice bin, and dispenser feedingmechanism are located in the top of thefreezer compartment. After the refrigerator isinstalled properly and has cooled for several

hours, the ice maker can produce ice within 24hours. It can completely ll an ice bin in abouttwo days.

    Using the Ice Maker afterInstallation

Before making ice for the rst time, be sureto prime the water supply system. Air in newplumbing lines can result in two or three emptyice maker cycles. Furthermore, if the systemis not ushed, the rst ice cubes may bediscolored or have an odd avor.

NOTEThe water dispenser has a built-in device

that shuts off the water ow after threeminutes of continuous use. To reset thisshutoff device, simply release the dispenserpaddle.

    CAUTION

For proper dispenser operation, recommended water supply pressureshould fall between 30 psi and 100 psi.Excessive pressure may cause water lter tomalfunction.

    Ice Production: What to Expect

How Much Ice Will a Side Mounted IceMaker Produce in 24 Hours?

A side mounted ice maker will produce 4 to 4.5pounds of ice every 24 hours, depending onusage conditions. Ice is produced at a rate of 8cubes every 75 to 90 minutes.

How Much Ice Will a Rear Mounted IceMaker Produce in 24 Hours?

A rear mounted ice maker will produce 3 to 4pounds of ice every 24 hours, depending onusage conditions. Ice is produced at a rate of 8cubes every 75 to 90 minutes.

    IMPORTANT

Small ice cubes or ice chips jamming in the

ice maker may be a sign that your waterlter needs changing. If you have a sidemounted ice maker you may also experiencehollow cubes partially frozen cubes withwater inside. When these cubes areharvested, they break open and spill waterover the other ice cubes in the ice container, forming a solid mass of ice. As the waterlter nears the end of its useful life andbecomes clogged with particles, less water isdelivered to the ice maker during each cycle.

The ice maker can’t ll every cube in the icemaker mold, leading to small cubes or chipsthat can get caught between the ice ejectorblades and the stripper. Remember, if yourice maker is jamming with small ice cubes orit’s been six months or longer since you lastchanged your water lter replace the waterlter with a new one. Poor quality householdwater may require the lter to be changedmore frequently.
