What is it?April 25th Karate Tournament is an event organized by Clube de Karaté da Maia since 2001, with the purpose of promoting competition among young student (under 13), as well as promoting karate as an all ages sport.

Nowadays it is considered as one of the best national private tournaments, having in previous editions an yearly total of over 1200 athletes registrations, which gave it a place in the top biggest karate events in Europe.

Each year the best Portuguese athletes register, as well as Portuguese National Team and several teams from other countries (i.e.: Spain, France, Marroco, Holland, South Africa).

About 3000 people attend the event, among family, friends and sports fans.

This is also one of the few Karate events in Portugal with TV coverage, with a 20’’ interview.

Note: April 25th is Portuguese national freedom holiday.
