Five Texas State students participated in the 2015 CFA INSTITUTE INVESTMENT RESEARCH CHALLENGE- SOUTHWEST. Of 25 teams, the McCoy College team was among eight finalists to present their work in Houston. e team of finance students, KATE DANG, SCOTT MARKWARDT, DAVID MOTA, JONATHAN PALMER and MAcy student WILLIAM INNES, placed second and advanced to the regional competition in April. DR. JANET PAYNE was the faculty advisor and MR. RICHARD PIOTROWSKI, CFA, served as the industry mentor. 18. Twelve faculty members representing all disciplines in McCoy College participated in FACULTY EXTERNSHIP PROGRAMS offered at Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC, HEB, Hill Country Alliance, Its Time Texas, Planto Roe Financial Services, San Antonio Fire and Police Pension Fund, Security Services Federal Credit Union, Total Quality Logistics, Trendmaker Homes, USAA, and Wimberley Valley Watershed Association. 19. e CENTER FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL ACTION (CEA) hosted two 3 Day Startup (3DS) programs. Seventy- five students comprised of 51 undergraduate, 22 graduate and two doctoral students attended in October 2014. Eleven mentors and three judges participated. In March 2015, 65 students from 20 fields of study participated with 17 industry mentors, three judges and four faculty members facilitating the intensive bootcamp. 20. e Texas State chapter of the ASSOCIATION FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONALS (AITP) and the Department of CIS & QM hosted 520 students representing 22 high schools at the 2014 High School Symposium in October. Attendees participated in 17 technical sessions and five IT competitions. RUSS FINNEY, retired Tokyo Electron CIO and international IT consultant, presented the keynote address. 21. DR. DIEGO VACAFLORES, Associate Professor of Economics, organized a research conference entitled “Economic Issues in Latin America” in Tarifa, Bolivia in March 2015. DRS. TODD JEWELL and JACK MOGAB, both Professors of Economics presented at the conference. 22. Texas State professional sales students advanced to the final rounds at the NATIONAL COLLEGIATE SALES COMPETITION (NCSC) and earned 2nd place overall in the graduate division. At the INTERNATIONAL COLLEGIATE SALES COMPETITION (ICSC) the Texas State team advanced to the Final Four Role Play individual competition. LAKOTA CAMPBELL was named 2nd runner-up. 23. e McCoy College MASTER’S DEGREE HOODING CEREMONY in spring 2015 honored a record number of 76 graduates with over 450 guests and 40 faculty members in attendance with 27 faculty participating in the hooding. Over 250 guests attended the fall ceremony to honor 47 graduates hooded by 14 faculty members. 24. Emerald Press and Journal of Services Marketing recognized the following marketing faculty for their respective highly commendable articles: DR. RAVI JILLAPALLI and DR. ENRIQUE BECERRA for their article “Health Care Branding: Developing Emotionally Based Consumer Brand Relationships,” and DR. STEVEN RAYBURN for his paper “Improving Service Worker Affect: e Transformative Potential of Work Design.” 25. e McCoy College study abroad offered three programs in summer 2015. DRS. ALEXIS STOKES and DIEGO VACAFLORES accompanied 30 graduate students enrolled in Emerging Market Economies, Legal Issues in International Business Law and Problems in Business Administration courses to SANTIAGO, CHILE. DRS. VIVEK SHAH and DENNIS SMART accompanied 45 undergraduate students enrolled in Enterprise Information Technology and Business Intelligence, International Business, International Trade Operations and Production and Operations Management to BARCELONA, SPAIN. DRS. JACK MOGAB and KEN MOON AND MS. 12. Dr. Lu MontonDon, Professor of Accounting, received recognition for the best academic paper published in 2014 from the Association of Governmental Accountants. Dr. patricia pattison,

Professor of Business Law, received the Stan March Best Paper Award at the UK Association of Law Teachers 2015 conference for her article “Legal Education for the Invincible Millenials.” Dr. JereMy

sierra, Associate Professor of Marketing, received an Outstanding Paper Award from the Journal of Product and Brand Management for his article “Brand Tribalism: An Anthropological Perspective.” Dr. aLexis stokes, Associate Professor of BLAW received the Best Paper Award at the 2015 Conference of the Western Academy of Legal Studies in Business for her paper “Un-Due Process: Constitutional Questions about SEC Administrative Hearings.”

13. A 16-member team of the coLLegiate

entrepreneurs’ organization (ceo)

Texas State chapter competed against 240 student chapters at the CEO Conference in November 2014. The Texas State chapter received first place in Best Chapter Business and in Best Campus E Diffusion as well as 2nd Place in both Best Social Media and Best CEO Advisor. The faculty advisor for the chapter is Dr. JaMes

Business. Fewer than 5 percent of business schools worldwide have earned this distinguished hallmark of excellence. Our accounting programs also hold accounting accreDitation. Only 180 out of 736 accredited institutions worldwide maintain a specialized AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.

2. Dr. k. MicHeLe kacMar joined Texas State in fall 2014 as the Jerry D. anD

LinDa gregg FieLDs cHair in etHics

anD corporate responsiBiLity. Her research focuses on business ethics, corporate responsibility and human resource management. Dr. Kacmar has published over 100 articles in such notable journals as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Human Relations.

3. The Texas State chapter of Beta gaMMa

sigMa (Bgs), the honor society for accredited schools of business, inducted a record 256 students and three faculty members in 2014-2015. Mr. Brian

Mccoy, presiDent and ceo of McCoy’s Building Supply, was the spring 2015 chapter honoree. The Texas State BGS chapter hosted the internet broadcast of a Meet tHe LeaDers oF Business presentation in February that was streamed to collegiate and alumni chapters around the world. Mr. Mccoy and Meagan Mccoy Jones, senior Vice

presiDent anD coo, were featured.

4. McCoy College MBA student craig

Meurer was a 2014 recipient of a $10,000 scholarship from the texas

Business HaLL oF FaMe. He is currently employed as the director of eDelivery Product Management at Fiserv.

tHe Mccoy coLLege oF Business

aDMinistration fosters an engaged learning community that prepares a diverse student population for successful business careers as responsible global citizens. The College complements these efforts with research that adds to knowledge, provides solutions to business challenges, and contributes to pedagogical advances. We offer undergraduate majors in accounting, computer information systems, economics, finance, management, and marketing. At the graduate level, we offer the master of business administration, master of accountancy, master of science in accounting and information technology, and master of science in human resource management degrees. The following 25 points of pride reflect a sample of our accomplishments in the 2014-2015 academic year and our commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

5. The Texas State aMerican Marketing

association (aMa) chapter received Platinum Circle recognition for the second consecutive year at the 37th Annual International Collegiate Conference and took second place in the AMA Case Competition. This is the ninth year that the chapter has advanced to the finalist round. Texas State AMA faculty advisor, Dr. gaiL zank was honored with the FacuLty aDVisor

LiFetiMe acHieVeMent awarD. Dr. Zank has been an advisor to the Texas State chapter since 2001.

6. The Texas State Beta aLpHa psi (Bap)

kappa eta chapter placed first in the 2015 International Best Practices competition at the BAP Annual Meeting in August 2015. The chapter has been named a superior chapter every year since 2001. Faculty advisors are Ms. Laurie Brown

and Dr. keitH keBoDeaux.

7. Ms. Vicki west, Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Director of the Center for Professional Sales was named the Dean

exceLLence proFessor in Finance. Excellence professorships are held for three-year terms.

8. The Texas State enactus/siFe team placed in the Elite Eight at the 2015 National Enactus Competition in St. Louis, MO. Team member sopHie sLeDge was one of five national award recipients for student leadership. Marian Brewer, MBA student and Enactus officer was a member of the winning team at the 3M gLoBaL

“inVent a Future cHaLLenge”

coMpetition in Minnesota. Brewer was one of three U.S. students to advance to the international competition in July 2015.

9. Mr. roBert grogan and Mr. JoHn

MccaLL were recognized as texas state

DistinguisHeD aLuMnus in fall 2014. Mr. Grogan retired from the Alaska State Government as an expert in policies concerning natural resources and has launched a second career as an artist and photographer. Mr. McCall co-founded Farouk Systems, Inc., a professional beauty industry product provider with worldwide distribution.

10. The 2015 Business LeaDersHip week focused on the theme Examining the Impact of Diversity in Business. A record 3,900 students participated in events that included keynote speaker Mr. FeLix

sancHez, Chief Executive Officer of Terra Com, and distinguished speaker Ms.

irMa Martinez, former Senior Human Resources Leader, IBM. An Executive Leadership Panel with Dr. giLDa garcia,

Dr. HerMan Horn and Ms. angeLes

VaLenciano discussed diversity issues in business and 24 guest speakers addressed students in a variety of classes. The week also included a mini-case competition, an etiquette dinner and an interactive fair.

11. McCoy College hosted the 2015 inaugural Matt anD JoDi eDgar texas state

uniVersity unDergraDuate Business

pLan coMpetition in April 2015. Seventeen visiting entrepreneurs served as judges and nine teams competed in semi-final presentation rounds to earn a spot to compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and cash awards. Winners included: 1st Place ($3,000) Your Auto, cLayton

LeHMan, BBA and Frank super, Public Relations; 2nd Place ($2,000) Beauty Granted, DaViD poku BBA; and 3rd Place ($1,000) Live Healthy Live Happy, kristi

MurpHy, BBA.

14. In FY14, the Texas State sMaLL

Business DeVeLopMent center

(sBDc) served 629 clients; provided 5,412 hours of client assistance; and presented 59 professional business seminars, workshops and conferences. It helped create 515 jobs and save 513 jobs through 40 business startups and 63 business expansions. The center provided training for more than 1,600 participants and facilitated more than $74.6 million of capital infusion to qualified businesses.

15. The texas state net iMpact student chapter was named a 2015 International Gold Chapter for the 5th consecutive year. Net Impact students participated in the Up to Us Competition sponsored by the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU). The chapter received the Silver Award at the CGIU annual meeting in March 2015 for its campus initiative to educate students on reducing the national debt.
