• Carried out improvement works to 94% of the boroughs streets
• Hounslow has gone from 32nd to 2nd best for road condition in London
• KSI’s reduced by 21% versus average 3 years prior to the contract
• Hounslow has received an additional £15m from 3rd party funding to improve
its network.
• Hounslow has gone from the bottom to the top quartile for cleanliness in
London
• Comfortable smooth journeys from low noise surfaces
• Noise levels reduced by 3.5 DB on non-residential streets
• £86 m Capital invested in renewing the roads and streetlights
• Cleaner streets - Bottom quartile in London in 2012 moving to top quartile
• 1,000% increase in enforcement of littering and dumping of rubbish
• Well above national average in managing utility compliance
• Clean 1,000 km of road length a month
• 2,753 network inspections per month
• 1,293 fly tip jobs completed a month, with approx. 460 additional incidents
attended to proactively every month
Customer Interaction
• Introduced the Lay Assessors Programme in 2014
• Hounslow Highways have held 12 rounds of Councillor Wardabouts in the
20 wards so far
• Dealt with 145,000 enquiries from residents to date (Jul 2017)
• 70% channel shift from call centre enquiries to directly through website

Energy savings for the borough
• Dimmed street lights by 20% and reduced the carbon footprint & making
financial savings.
• Hounslow Highways have reduced the energy consumption for street lights by
56% since the contract started.

What we have done in Chiswick
The next few months will see:
• The completion of a 5 year regeneration programme
• Installation of the “heritage style” lighting
• Completion of the standing water plan – over 700 inspections
• Completion of the de-cluttering plan
• Completion of the de-illumination plan
• Crossover enforcement programme – over 700 illegal crossovers to enforce
• 75 f/w and 128 c/w schemes to be completed by Dec 2017.
It will also see a transition from regeneration to Maintenance of the
Highway Network, this doesn’t mean HH disappears, it means….
2017 next 6 months
THE NEXT 20 YEARS: 2018 - 2038
We will do more of the same, manage the trees, respond to the lights, deal
with emergencies, manage enquiries, contractually and as per the
Authority’s needs and requirements
And we will……
• Keep investing (Post Core Investment Programme)
• More enforcement and issue more FPN’s
• More education to get the behaviour change we need
• Install Cycle Superhighway 9, Chiswick High St to High St Brentford
• Support regeneration of Feltham Town Centre
• Enable sustainable transport facilities, buses, walking, cycling
• Implement 20mph zones
The Next 20 Years?
Traffic volume:
– DfT from April 2017 quotes “more than double the number of motorists were
on the roads in Hounslow than anywhere else in the country last year.”
Behaviour
– Flytipping and littering account for 60% of everything we do.
– Increase recycling
Environmental
– Reducing our carbon footprint by moving towards a more environmentally
friendly fleet.
– Invest 250k in 2018 in an upgraded fleet of mechanical sweepers
– Expansion of Heathrow airport
Growth
– More inward investment
