Islamic culture and civilization is neither related to any regionnor race but it is purely Quranic Civilization based on ideology ofIslam. This study, deals with the notion that whether art ispermitted is Islam or otherwise. In this study, basis of art inQuran, Sunnah and position of it in current era are alsodiscussed.

Art can be divided into three types with respect to its usage:1) Worship; when art is for Allah. 2) Mubah; when art is forenjoyment remaining in the limits of reason. 3) Haram; when artis for sexual anarchy and evil practices. The period ofKhilafat-e-Rashida, Umayyad, Abbasids, Safwid, Uzbic, Indian,Turk (Usmani) are the various forms of Islamic art in differenttimes. Religion does not break links with life but it deepens therelationship between man and life. Isolating culture fromreligion, and expelling it from religious activities, is notsomething useful. Islam prohibits vulgarity but allows otherhealthy activities. Music, poetry, painting, architecture andother forms of art have been in vogue throughout the Islamichistory though not appreciated generally.
