Kahani Karnival Drama Festival

The students of grades 3, 4, and 5 were invited to the Kahani Karnival Drama Festival,

so on April 22, packed with eager anticipation and lots of enthusiasm, we headed to the

“Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum”, a space that breathes heritage and history. We began with a

guided tour of the museum. . The Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum opened to the public at its present

site in Byculla in 1872 as the former Victoria & Albert Museum, Bombay. It is Mumbai’s oldest museum and the

third oldest in the country. The Museum building is one of the most important historical sites of the city. It is a

beautiful structure indeed, but what called our attention the most was its beautifully decorated interior. Here, the

students of grade 4 were able to connect what they saw to what they had learned in their Ancient Civilizations

unit. Artifacts from ancient times, models, dioramas depicting life in India and specifically/expressly made for

Queen Victoria… We are sure that the students from all grades enjoyed this tour!

After that, we were directed to an open air installation to watch “The Dancing Donkey”, a musical play directed by

Lilette Dubey, known actress and director.

The story revolves around two rascals who steal a donkey from a man and try to con him to buy it back from them.

The stage was very simply decorated, with just a couple of trees on it, specifically designed for children to use their

imagination and minds. Even though it is not a musical, it has around eight songs, all of them peppy and catchy to

the ear. The play itself was very entertaining, and all our students were engaged from the very first scene. Students

from grades 3 and 5 could easily connect it to their Arts and How we Express Ourselves/Who We Are units. And

teachers had a good laugh as well! The play was hilarious!

After a short snack break, we were directed to the where we Dramatised storytelling of Swedish writer Astrid

Lindgren's favourite novel Pippi Longstocking by Priyanka Babbar of Small Tales.

Who doesn’t love a good story? Our students at RBKIA certainly do! And if this story teller is someone who can get

us involved in the plot as if we were actually witnessing every scene, then the experience is even better. Our

children were actively listening to each and every word Priyanka spoke and keenly interacting with her. Teachers

also had a chance to rediscover the child in them!

The Kahani Karnival’s aim is to build a generation of readers by bringing stories alive through books, theatre, art,

music and dance! This festival is a celebration of the art of storytelling, and we enjoyed every single bit of it.

Cooking Lessons at Rakhee’s Studio

W e left for the studio at 10:15 on Monday. We had to travel in a bus for 2 hours

as the bus driver lost his way. Once we reached there we freshened up, and Rakhee ma’am

gave us a detailed introduction of what we were going to do. We were going to make paprika sauce with paneer

tikka and rice. We started skewering the paneer and pepper. We then started making the sauce. We were guided by

the teacher and her assistants. We were already running late so we were not wasting much time. We then made the

rice, and the mashed potato. We were all very hungry so after we were done cooking we started eating. The main

aim for this trip was that, when we all travel to different countries we would have some basic idea how to cook food.

It was a really good experience, and we all enjoyed a lot during this trip. We all wanted to learn more but we had no

time.

IBDP G4 Presentation

On Saturday 23rd April the IBDP 1 students were involved in the G4 presentation.

This is one of the requirements of the IB Diploma course. This assignment was done in groups of

five, each focused on the science of their choice, with a common umbrella topic, which was food and drink.

The G4 presentation was all about collaboration. Each group had to divide the work equally amongst all

the students in order to make an optimal project that was capable of presentation. The students spent a lot of time

brainstorming and conducting research on their experiments as they all wanted to make the best possible G4

assignment. They all had to prepare complex labs or analyze complex data from various sites in order to fulfill one

major criterion, according to the IB requirements. Each and every group presented unique investigations in order to

satisfy their internal curiosity. All of these experiments were made for the betterment of humanity as all the

students were trying to find out the negative and positive aspects of food and drink. The results from every group

were fascinating and gave a better insight of food and drink. At the end of the day this entire experiment was all

about teamwork and all the groups displayed that brilliantly through their presentations.
