Swap night! As part of our commitment to being an eco-congregation we are planning a swap event: An opportunity to swap items that are no longer of use to us but are too good to throw away.
This will be held in late January/ February and will hopefully be a social, as well as environmentally friendly event.
To get it organised we need helpers with ideas!
If you would be interested, or would like to find out more, speak to Miriam after Mass one Sunday, or leave your details in the sacristy.
I, along with the Parish Pastoral Council, am considering the Alpha course as means of deepening faith in Christ and motivating us towards evangelism. I think this should be a wider reflection, so if you are able please go on line and look for Alpha in a Catholic Context and see what is said.

Mass of Thanksgiving Celebrating the Canonisation of
Oscar Romero Sun. 14th Oct. 4.30 pm St Patrick’s Cowgate
Oscar Romero was Archbishop of San Salvador. He was
assassinated on Monday March 24th 1980 as he was
celebrating Mass in the chapel of the Divine Providence
cancer hospital where he lived. Thirty five years later, he
was declared a martyr of the Church, killed out of hatred
of the faith, and was beatified on May 23rd 2015. He will be
canonised by Pope Francis at a ceremony in St Peter’s
Square in Rome on Sunday October 14th. His Feast Day will
remain March 24th.
Day for Migrants and Refugees – volunteers needed.
Every year in January the Church marks the Day for Migrants and Refugees, a celebration of the lives and gifts of everyone who is a migrant or refugee in the world. In January in Musselburgh we would like to mark that day in our parish community, to celebrate and recognise all of us who are migrants or whose families have been migrants into Scotland. But we need help to organise it! If you would like to be involved please speak to Miriam after Mass one Sunday or leave your details in the sacristy.

Creation and the Eucharist: “The eucharistic form of life can thus help foster a real change in the way we
approach history and the world. The liturgy itself teaches us this, when, during the presentation of the gifts, the
priest raises to God a prayer of blessing and petition over the bread and wine, ‘fruit of the earth,’ ‘fruit of the
vine,’ and ‘work of human hands.’ With these words, the rite not only includes in our offering to God all human
efforts and activity, but also leads us to see the world as God’s creation, which brings forth everything we need
for our sustenance. The world is not something indifferent, raw material to be utilized simply as we see fit.
Rather, it is part of God’s good plan, in which all of us are called to be sons and daughters in the one Son of
God, Jesus Christ (cf.Eph1:4-12).” — Pope Benedict XVI Sacramentum Caritatis (par. 92),.
