Dear Robert Farrell,

I am writing in regards to the city transfer of the Greenwood Senior Center property located on

525 N. 851h Street to the Phinney Neighborhood Association. What a wonderful opportunity for the

neighborhood to continue its great service to the senior community and beyond. I am the Branch

Manager at the HomeStreet Bank in Phinney Ridge and I fully support the transfer of property. The folks

at the Phinney Neighborhood Association are amazing at just about everything and are keenly in touch

with the community in many different and significant ways. They are great!! I believe that this transfer

of property will allow for not only improvements to the build ing itself but also to the quality of the

programs there going forward. I am confident that the PNA will be a great owner and do its best to keep

the property in great shape and well accessible to the citizens of our great neighborhood. I thank you

As a member of the PNA Village and the PNA, and as a forty year resident of the Phinney/Greenwood community, I want to express my enthusiastic support for the transfer of the Greenwood Senior Center property to the PNA.

There are many reasons why this transfer will benefit the City of Seattle, the users of the facility and its programs, and our community at large. The one I would like to emphasize is that the transfer will enable the PNA to solicit, obtain, and apply the resources needed to significantly improve the facility for its constituents. As you know, the two floors of the Senior Center are connected only by stairs, creating access problems for many of the older people who use the facility. Since acquiring the Phinney Center complex and the two former school buildings which comprise it, the PNA has undertaken major fund raising efforts and has managed the implementation of significant accessibility improvements in both buildings, including elevators. Similar improvements--or a complete facility rebuild--are needed at the Greenwood Senior Center, but that is simply not possible until the PNA owns the property.

I want to thank you and the City of Seattle for making this important change possible. Please add my voice to those in favor of the transfer and let me know if there is any way I can be of assistance in facilitating it.

I would like to voice my approval and excitement over the potential transfer of the GSC property to the PNA. As a longtime area resident and member, and currently as a volunteer board member of the PNA, I can see the perfect fit that GSC has been with PNA for the last decade, and will be long into the future. By being under the PNA umbrella, the GSC has even more potential to connect with the community- not just seniors, but with everyone.

Thank you for making this transfer project work for both the City of Seattle and for the Phinney Center.

I'm on the Board of Directors at the PNA and I'm writing to you to express my support for the transfer of the GSC property to the PNA. As I' m sure you know, the services provided by the GSC are invaluable to the north end and the GSC is leading the way in terms of early stage memory loss programing and The Village concept. The work of the GSC .is one of the reasons I was inspired to join the PNA Board and in my opinion is a true gem in our city. Transferring the property to the PNA will allow the PNA and the GSC to expand access to more seniors and make the property accessible to all who visit. The PNA has proven an excellent steward of this property and the other bu ildings that make up the PNA campus and community. The proposed transfer will serve the best interests of the many who use this property and GSC services. Thank you for your time and work on this issue.

My name is Kevin McCracken, and I live with my wife and two sons (ages 10 and 7) in Greenwood. Last month we received a letter in the mail soliciting feedback on the proposed transfer of ownership of the Greenwood Senior Center from the City of Seattle to the Phinney Neighborhood Association.

I am currently serving on the Board of the PNA. Through that I have developed a deep appreciation for the ways in which the PNA provides valuable support and enrichment services for so many in our community, including the many seniors who participate in programs at the GSC. I know that the PNA is fully committed to providing these programs in the long term, and agree that the transfer of ownership of the property will allow the PNA to (as you put it) "develop a more complete, long-range plan" for the facility and the programs it provides there.

I have my fingers crossed that the rest of the community feels as strongly as I do that this transfer would be a win for the City of Seattle, a win for the community (especially it's seniors) and a win for the PNA.
