The contents of the present document are subject to continuin wor# within the T"G and may chane followin formalT"G approval. "hould the T"G modify the contents of the present document- it will be re;released by the T"G with anidentifyin chane of release date and an increase in version number as followsL

8=? and T& &";83= >8B?)are used whenever applicable. "ome of the new commands are defined such way that they can be easily applied to MTof networ#s other than G"MJMT". &T;T T.38 >88? and T.3* >8*? fa T commands may be used for G"MJMT"fa transmission from T2. G"MJMT" "hort Messae "ervice T commands are defined in 3GPP T" *C.++= >*:?.GP/" T commands are defined in clause 8+ of this specification. The present document assumes an abstractarchitecture comprisin a T2 (e.. a computer) and a MT interfaced by a T (see fiure 8). The span of control of thedefined commands should allow to handle any physical implementation that this abstract architecture may lead toL

; T- MT and T2 as three separate entities

; T interated under the MT cover- and the T2 implemented as a separate entity

; T interated under the T2 cover- and the MT implemented as a separate entity

; T and MT interated under the T2 cover as a sinle entity.

The commands described in the present document may be observed on the lin# between the T2 and the T. owever-most of the commands retrieve information about the MT- not about the T.

Two new commands are created for controllin the alternatin mode calls. 7irst one- 1all Mode (+CMO)- selects

between sinle and alternatin mode. 0ecause this is a crucial command- it is defined that the value is set bac# to!ero (sinle mode) after every successfully oriinated alternatin mode call. lso on power;up and factory or userresets- the value is set to !ero. The second new command- anup 1all (+C')- is not a replacement of 8:?

command - but a command which reliably disconnects the call in G"MJMT" networ#. This is defined because the

command is used to switch from fa or data mode to voice mode.

The settin of G"MJMT" bearer service (data circuit duple asynchronous and synchronous- P9 access circuitasynchronous- or data pac#et duple synchronous)- is done with "elect 0earer "ervice Type (+CST). &t chooses one of

the four mentioned bearer services- the data rate of the service (or actually the modulation when modem &F7s areused)- and enables or disables /5P. 1ommand /adio 5in# Protocol (+CRL') is used to set the /5P parameters in the

    radio path.

"ervice /eportin 1ontrol command (+CR) is defined similarly as the reportin of modulation- ,? nne )- or some other information definedby the T manufacturer.
