Dear Parents,

This is a letter to inform you that the Prep children will attend their first Monday

morning assembly on 06/03/2017. The school assembly takes place in the hall

and is welcome to all parents and families. Assembly offers a wonderful opportunity

for everyone to keep up to date with what is happening in our school. At assembly,

the Prep children sit as a class in a designated place at the front and the parents

generally sit at the back of the hall.

Assembly is also a great time for parents to hear the teachers give awards to suc-

cessful learners and students who have displayed kindness towards others. The

whole school comes together to celebrate success in its many forms.

The other important news is that the Prep Team will holding a Prep parent read-

ing information session on Thursday the 9th March from 2.30 pm to 3.25pm

in room 18.

We will outline how you can best support us in helping your child to read. The ses-

sion will be casual and friendly and we will provide plenty of time to ask questions.

We look forward to your company on Thursday 9th of March. Please RSVP your

child’s teacher if you can make it.

As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s

classroom teacher.

Kind Regards,

The Prep Team

ASTHMA.

Every year there is a sharp rise in the number of asthma attacks for children when they return to school after the summer break. This results in increased Emergency

Department visits and hospitalisations. Use our checklist to help your child stay

well and get their school year off to a healthy start

See a GP to complete an Asthma Plan, giving a copy to the school Provide the school with a spare asthma reliever (usually blue) puffer and spacer

Talk to your child’s class teacher Get more information and download your back to school asthma checklist from

the Asthma Australia website.

For primary aged students: Asthma Kids

Looking for a way to help your child understand more about their asthma or about a friend with asthma? Asthma Kids is an online, interactive tool to

help primary school aged children understand what it’s like to have asthma and what they can do to help. Check it out at asthmakids.org.au

For Victorian schools: Thunderstorm Asthma community information sessions

The Department of Health & Human Services has organised a series of thunder-storm asthma information sessions for anyone impacted by the event in late November 2016 and those interested in knowing more about this phenome-

non.

During the sessions you'll hear from health experts about what thunderstorm asthma is and how you and your family can prepare for the next pollen sea-son. For session dates and locations visit https://www2.health.vic.gov.au/

When we did Kitchen Gardens last week,

Hunter’s Dad, Nathan, came to show us how

to make bread.

The bread looked scrumptious.

It smelt delicious.

It made out mouths water.

We got to eat some while bread rolls.

Thanks Nathan 3V
