All current year and prior year inductees into the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers, Collegium of Scholars and Board of Sponsors are invited to an honorees networking reception. Plans will be presented at this gathering for the regular convening of each board and receiving nominations for future induction.

Morehouse College is honored to have over 550 clergy in our ranks of alumni. Many of these alumni clergy are former members of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel Assistants. This reception will be our first reunion of Morehouse Alumni Clergy for an opportunity to network, receive an update on programs of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel and plan for future alumni clergy initiatives.

Following each evening of the Intergenerational Preaching Festival, we will host a Sermon Talkback Breakfast the next morning for participants to engage with the featured preachers in dialogue about their unique sermonic style, sermon design, content, the blessings and challenges of preaching in the public square and other relevant topics.

“Occupy the Classroom: Education, Technology & The

WorldHouse”

In keeping with the theme of the 2012 College, “Showing Up in the World: Answering the Call to Learn, Serve and Lead,” each plenary session will engage the idea of the WorldHouse as developed in the final chapter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s book, “Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?” In this essay, Dr. King posits that we are living in revolutionary times that must go beyond science and technological innovation to include a global movement of freedom undergirded by a revolution of values. 45 years after publication of these ideas, we will revisit the notion of the WorldHouse to assess its condition in 2012. We will specifically engage in discussion about the implications of our increasing global kinship for education and commerce and the continued necessity for a global movement of freedom undergirded by a revolution of values. Each plenary session will be followed by discussion groups that will engage the session theme and presentation to explore areas of intersection and resonance with the practical work of ministry, academic scholarship, activism, social service, entrepreneurship, etc.

Health and Wellness Luncheon featuring dietary recommendations and demonstrations, presentations on healthy eating habits, exploring the mind/body/spirit connection, and promoting a culture of health in institutions and communities.
