RECONFIGURING ST. MARY’S
New Beginnings
Pastoral Planning, Reconfiguring Resources, Fewer Priests, Declining Church
Attendance, Less Income: These are the realities facing all Catholic parishes today,
country wide. We as the Finance Committee, are being asked by the diocese to
define a new way to be parish. Now is the time to revisit a word from the past:
Stewardship.
In this climate within our Catholic world, we must review and address our
commitment to stewardship and our use of our resources at St. Mary's in order to
achieve a "New Beginning".
As a first step in this process, Fr. John and the Finance Committee are
recommending that we use a new model of reporting our financial status to you, our
parishioners. We will report in the bulletin a snapshot of our current financial
position which will include our projected annual budget goal, and the income
needed to complete reaching the operating budget for the church.
In addition to reporting to you our current "family budget position" we will be
recommending periodically ways in which to modify the costs of running our parish.
We invite you all to make suggestions and comments on those recommendations
as they are made.
As we move forward, we will be making changes which, very much like trimming our
household budgets, necessitate adjustments which we may find uncomfortable and
sometimes disappointing. We ask for your understanding and support as we deal
with keeping St. Mary's a viable and stable parish.
Your Finance Committee is suggesting that you give consideration to increasing
your participation in the Stewardship of our parish to maintain that viability and
stability. Please keep these endeavors in your prayers We know that with your
prayers and help, our parish community will become stronger in faith and in
function.
Wishing you a blessed new year,
St. Mary’s Finance Committee

Mary Did You Know? Lyrics by Mark Lowry
[Verse 1]
Mary did you know that your baby boy will some day walk on water? Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters? Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new? This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you. [Verse 2] Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man? Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand? Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? And when your kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God. Oh Mary did you know? The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again. The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb. [Verse 3] Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations? Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb? This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.
