Students were focussed and energised and were ‘positively primed’ thanks to Mrs Baucke! Other assessments are also currently taking place to support teacher judgements for upcoming semester reports. Assessment is an ongoing process at Parkmore as we continuously track student progress and identify learning needs and adjust teaching appropriately. On June 14 students in years 3 to 6 will undertake the University of New South Wales Writing test to interrogate our Writing data and instruction. Parents and students will also receive a report on this test. In keeping with our strengths based focus it is important parents focus on a child’s successes and harness these to build their learning resilience and (consequent) growth. Student-Led Conferences and Semester One Reports Once again Parkmore will run Student-led conferences across the school in weeks 10 and 11. Junior school will run this as an open afternoon and students from Years 3 to 6 will have a 15 minute individual conference. We have found the process beneficial for our students as they take increasing ownership of their learning and have the opportunity to articulate and celebrate their learning development. A note with more information regarding the conferences and semester one reports will be sent home next week. Baby Boy Congratulations to Gemma K's family who have a new baby boy. Welcome Sebastion.

Professional Learning at Parkmore P.S Parkmore Primary has recently excelled in its educational leadership as educators fromnear and far visit the school to learn more about our excellent and innovative practices thatare showing amazing and growing results. In the first week of term two Mrs Bauckehosted a contingent from a number of schools and universities in Hong Kong. Our visitorswere in Melbourne following the PESA (Positive Education in Schools Association)conference at Geelong Grammar (at which we presented a workshop). Our visitors sharedwith Adrienne how impressed they were with our school and were captured by how wellour students spoke during presentations and classroom visits. Also, last fortnight MrsGilbert presented a workshop on Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationshipscurriculum to a number of staff from our Respectful Relationships Partner Schools. It wasa very engaging session and participants were impressed with the depth of learning thestudents demonstrated. Another example of Parkmore leading the way for our localschools and networks. Last week, Mr McIntosh and Mrs Baucke both delivered workshopsto teachers from the ‘Riversdale’ network (all government schools in Boorondara andWhitehorse). Both workshops were well received and we are most grateful to have such astrong group of teachers leading not only our school but also our system so all childrencan flourish.

PFA Parkmore Parents and Friends Association is going from strength to strength. Recentevents include Bunnings BBQ (Helen Gunther) and Mother’s Day stall (Kathryn Hay). SueCrawford continues to manage the publication of the fortnightly newsletter and has starteda monthly book group. Mel Plaw manages the student banking program and Erin Oxleecoordinates Book Club. Walking group meets weekly and a footy tipping competition is infull swing. As is often reported, parent engagement in learning is known to lead toimproved outcomes for students of all ages. Parents play an essential role as the firsteducators of children, and ongoing, active engagement of parents, families andcommunities has a major impact on a child’s success at school. I encourage all families tocontribute in any way they can. Please contact Helen or Sue to find out more!

This change is to accommodate ForestHill College our Visible Wellbeing Partner School (focus of this curriculum day). This changedoes not affect the first day of term 3, July 16, - which remains a student free day. Apologies ifthis disrupts family schedules.

Musician of the WeekBeing an audience member at Hamer Hall is something to lookforward to, for Amy, this visit to one of Melbourne's mostesteemed venues was particularly exciting.

As part of the North-Eastern Victoria Region Youth (NEVR) sheperformed at the Tributes Concert, playing violin amongst some ofMelbourne's best upcoming young musicians.

"It felt very exciting and fun to play the violin at Hamer Hall.  Imet new friends and I want to make the best out of my violinplaying".

This really is just the start for Amy, we at Parkmore are lookingforward to seeing how her music grows to all new heights.
