Persistence Confidence Getting Along Organisation Resilience

Car Park/ Building Works The long awaited building works will commence on Monday! The 2 building sites will be fenced off and work will commence on a secure access path to the hall and portables from the main building. This will mean that the Car Park between the main building and the hall will be inaccessible for the duration of the works. The Breeze St. gate next to the Preschool fence will also be fenced off so the only access from Breeze St. into the school will be via the gate at the top of the oval. The secure pathway will be constructed as a priority and is expected to be finished by the end of next week. It will travel along the inside of the fence line next to Coast Banksia. Until this is finished, grades will be walked along the footpath by their supervising teacher when they have to go to the hall.

Year 1/2 Drop off and Pick up Until the end of the year, we request that Year 1 and 2 students be dropped off in the area outside their rooms no earlier than 8:45am and picked up in the same area no later than 3:45pm. There will be a teacher on duty there from 8:45am until 9am when they go into their classrooms and from 3:30pm until 3:45pm. Staff will walk the grades to the playgrounds and back at recess and lunchtime. If your child attends before school care, they will be walked to their rooms by the OSHC coordinator. If they attend after school care, they will be walked to the BER building by a member of staff. They will not be permitted to walk between areas by themselves.

Assemblies We will be holding Monday morning assemblies on the basketball court until the end of the year, weather permitting.

Helpers’ Morning Tea Our special Helpers’ Morning Tea is on Monday 9

th December at 11am. We hope to see all our

wonderful helpers there.

Anita McKenzie’s Farewell We are farewelling Anita McKenzie with an afternoon tea on Wednesday 4

th December

between 3pm and 4:30pm. Anita has been on School Council for the past 5 years, 3 as School Council President, and has been a tireless worker for our school. Everyone is welcome to come.

This week in Grade 3/4 Maths… We have been learning about addition and subtraction and revising our strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems efficiently. We played a game called ‘The Fifty Seven Game’, where students needed to take turns moving the counter on the grid diagonally to add numbers together to try and make exactly 57. We then practised our regrouping by racing to 100, 1000 and 10,000. Students needed to roll numbers on a dice and add them together and regroup on their place value chart. Check it out.
