10.05 Keynote:SamanthaHeywood,Director,MuseumofWorldWarII,Boston.‘Thechallengesofchallenginghistoryinthe‘real’world’SamanthaHeywoodworkedatImperialWarMuseumsfortwentyyears,startingoutasaneducationofficerand,by2015,asthedirectorofpublicprogrammes.Duringthistime,sheledIWM’spilotingofInspiringLearningforAllandthenation-widelearningprogramme,TheirPastYourFuture;workedonthedevelopmentofIWMNorth,andledtheteamsincreatingthenewAtriumandFirstWorldWarGalleriesatIWMLondonthatopenedin2014.ShehasworkedcloselywiththeambitionsofcentralgovernmentandLotteryfundersandyethasdeliveredthoughtfulandfocusedprogrammeswiththeirbacking.SheiscurrentlyworkingintheUSAwithaprojecttobuildanewmuseumofWorldWarII.[Chair:SamanthaCairns]
